12" Re Audio XXX

The XXX requires a HUGE box because of the amount of space the frame takes.

The MX's are a more practical choice, neo magnet..less weight. 4" coil, a little better power handling over a 3" coil (not better than the XXX)... And there not to big. Get a Dual 1 with that amp so you can have it @ 2 ohms for daily.. So 2000 watts daily, then if you wanted to compete wire that bish down to .5 and burp it. My opinion with that amp

Why are you choosing to spend so much money?

There can be just as good of a woofer had, for alot less money.

If a single 12" off 1200w got my Durango to the low 140's, I think it could do the same, if not more in a small hatch.

Just my 2 cents. If you wish to spend a good chunk of change, W7, and the XXX would be perfect.

i love the xxx, it looks awsome can handle tons of power and sounds great too.

i just really wanna kno if it is a bad idea to put it in my camaro, i dont want it to sound bad.

2.2 cubes before sub, port and wood displacement?

The new XXX's claim to fame is its extreme amount of excursion. The problem is, toss that sub in a small box and it will take a gob of power to get anywhere near the potential out of the sub. Id guess most car installs do not come close to having the power/enclosure volume to reach the sub's mechanical limits. This is especially the case if you plan to try and put the sub in a small ported box.

Lastly, if you want to go ported, why are you worried about trying to stuff a sub with so much excursion in your too-small space? Generally speaking, you get less cone motion in ported boxes than their sealed counterparts. Even in the proper sized ported box and rated power, that sub would rarely, if ever, play anywhere near mechanical limits. Vented systems rely much less on cone excursion to achieve high output levels than do sealed systems. So unless you plan on running it in a fairly large sealed box, with a large amount of power, I really dont see the need for all that cone excursion. Most of it would be wasted/never used in a vented setup.

Most any of the normal 'supersubs' would likely fit your situation better. The new XXX is just not a very good speaker for trying to cram into a small ported box.

you are saying that i dont have enuf power to run the sub. i have a ma audio hk802sx amo to run 1 12 inch sub. i will have a ho alternator and a second battery in the trunk. i think that is plenty of power to run this sub that is rated at for 2000 watts. i have heard that the xxx can handle 3000.

so how much power do i need to drive a 12" xxx 2 its limit in a small ported enclosure like this?

would it still do good in a sealed box and how much air spaqce do i need with what amount of power??? would the xxx really do as good as it would in a sealed box compared to a ported??
