12" Re Audio XXX

so no one has really answerd me except that it is a big sub that likes big boxes. well i have enuf room for the recomended airspace in my car so why wont this sub sound good???
and what is a better single 12 sub to get?
Call RE and ask them what alignment those recommended enclosures are.

what do you mean alignment?

i was thinkin of using circle ports instead of a slot port, but only becuse i dont know if there is enuf room for slot ports...i would rather have 2 slot ports on each side of the box.

and yes the main goal here is to beat down the block very hard, but i still want it to sound great

Search for 'enclosure alignment'.

basically the size of the enclosure affects its frequency response. A smaller enclosure might look better on paper, or in this case 'acceptable' on paper, but that does not mean they are truly recommending an enclosure size that would equate to a preferrable frequency response. Talk to Scott at Fi, the guy who designed them. He will tell you, they like really large enclosures. Id really like to try out a new XXX for home theater, as I could build a massive box. But something I need to fit in my truck? Nah, Id chose a different sub personally.

well thanks for all the help you idiot, dont post here if ur gonna make a post about nothing.

i was trying to say that i want it loud as ball but i dont want it to sound like a l7 does, i want it to actually be clear

but either way you should just go play in a furnace...

i was only looking to use 1 12" sub

Mk, how about ONE ssa icon? I'm sure you'd be happy with that.

a few others:

Fi Q

Brahma

ID max (woot)

Older RE xxx

Flatline

Older Mag

There are plenty of other options out there that only weigh about 35-40 lbs or so. I don't exactly see a point in adding 75+ lbs to a camaro.

What sort of power are you looking to use?

I love when people say they want it to 'get loud and sound great'...thanks for specifying, for a second there I thought you wanted it to be loud but sound like shit

i lol'd

I would recommend an older XXX sub. But if your heart is set on the new version, do a slot port box tuned at about 28-32 hz, @ 3.5-4.0 ft. Or find a neat design as to wear you can invert the sub and show off what its packin.

lol not even possible. i have like 2.25 to work with and that is right up agains the back glass so no inverting the sub

i dont really care about the extra wieght that much, i am just looking for something that is crazy loud with i 12 and still sounds decent.

the more and more i look at a w7 the more i think i am gonna have to go with that, unless the older xxx sub would work out better than that.

say that i did just go ahead and throw the new xxx in there with 2.2 tuned to 32hz, do you think that it would still sound good and be loud or would it sound like total poop?
