Lookin for a sub for a little SQ sub

I listen to rap, rock, jazz, w/e. Gonna give the sub about 300W RMS. Main priorities are low end extension, good response and just a flat output up to about 125Hz. I really like Dayton as a brand and know their stuff is way underpriced but I'm down for alternatives.

I had an Alpine Type R 12 powered by a Profile CL600M that got stolen... it was in a shitty Q-Logic box I sealed up. That setup performed OK but was not linear at all and had bad low end extension.

Name some suggestions

Go with the Image Dynamics Q. That sub is awesome for 300 watts, it gets low and sounds ****ing great in 1cf. If your box is 1.5 go with the Reg Image Dynamics Sub V2 same thing but a little bigger box is preferred

It is, I am running this sub off a Cadence 4ch.
check the sensitivity at 91db:thumbupw:

Now compare with that in mind. I'd rather slightly over power a sub than try to hear an inefficient sub with to little power.

Wouldn't those basically amount to the same thing? Or are you saying I should have a higher power ceiling? My old Clarus was actually putting about 450 to my Type-R

HOWEVER

One of my friends had a single 12" MMATS sub in a box powered by a tiny Visonik amp and while it didn't boom and bang, it got the job done. I am sure he was clipping like crazy, but I will not be pushing the sub that much. Worst comes to worst I will just get a bigger amp.

No, the peerless xxls does not amount to a type R in a sealed application. The peerless is a much different sub and you should see very good sq out of it.

LMAO!!!! Do those even move w/300W RMS? Those are huge, I can't imagine those doing well on SQ
They sound wonderful. They are considered to be very very good subs. 300 watts would work, but probably not enough

Also, be aware that recomended box size is not optimal. It likes a big box.

Wrong. The ID and IDQ are different subs, and not just in box requirements.

Look at the peerless xxlshttp://www.madisound.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=45_245_316&products_id=1735

It's perfect as long as your 300w is at 4 ohms.
A great suggestion here. I have an XLS in the box at home, hope to put it to use in a HT setup soon...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

And lastly, these may help you...

The ID V2 and IDQ V2 are **** close to the same the IDQ is more of a sql, takes a lil more power, and the ID is more of a SQ and takes a lil less power, but I own both, listen to both, and your hard pressed to tell a large difference.

Playing a sub that high is retarded.

The ID will be very close to the IDQ.

Difference in sound and performance will be smaller than the difference in price.
