I got a 93 2 door GMC yukon, wanting to put a system in it within the month.

Plan on getting:

Alpine CDA-9830

2 "12 RE SE subs 600w rms 1200w peak each. @ 2ohm

hifonics bx1500d amp

2 stock 4x6 speakers

2 stock 4x10 speakers

Will my 100a alt power this with out any problems to the rest of my car?

My dad says I will fry the alternator and Fk up the yukon, Would I need the big 3?, another car battery?, or a fuse?, or capcitor?

If anyone can help me out that would be cool. I'm a newbie to a cars electrical system.

it's probably an after market alt, it has been replaced 1 or 2 times. My dad says I will shorten the life of the alt and fry it up. Can any pros tell him different?

Just the HF?? At TWO ohms?? You're looking at 900-1000 class D watts. There aren't many stock alts that couldn't handle that load.

If you're dad's right then most everyone on this forum using a stock alt should have burned it up by now. Tell him to relax. Music does NOT reqire constant DC current. Just because that amp CAN produce 1500w doesn't mean it will - and at 2 ohms it will NEVER even be CLOSE.

pshhh, im pullind 2x the current you do ishboo.

My alt is stock, my battery is a crappy optima.

that alt only produces 13.8v.

get an alt with 14.4v, do the big 3, get a nice energizer 1000a battery.

i HIGHLY doubt 1 batt and a 100A alt would power this setup.
I only have a sub, 1500 watts, 12" XXX and my lights dim like crazy, stock batt and 145A alt.
It seems to me you may have a wire problem. I would check your ground again. Also I have posted this on many differnent threads. People who are doing a body ground (where you sand down the metal and bolt the ground to the body of the car) need to insure they have a few things first. Your car SHOULD already have an additional wire comming off the battery - post that runs to the body of the car ( about 10 inch or so. If not MAKE ONE. Just take a piece of wire and and make another ground from the battery - to the inside fender wall. I always do a FRAME ground, it insures a cleaner and more reliable ground point. It is more work, but well worth it. The body of the car is held in by bolts and rubber bushings. over time you get corrosion between the metals and you do not get good contact.
