this was written about already in the late 80's or very early 90's......perceived doubling in volume to the human ear is in fact 10 db.

No. It is double sound pressure, but to the human ear on average 10 dB is still twice as loud, so + 6 dB is not 2X loud (it took me a lot of calculating to understand this. . .It really does not seem right).

2X loudness to the human ear, and 2X sound pressure are not the same thing. . .

500 watts is twice as loud as 50

that is correct. It is also 10 dB. You can figure it out using the simple math of:

50 watts -> 100 watts = +3 dB

100 watts -> 200 watts = +3 dB

200 watts -> 400 watts = +3 dB

400 watts => 500 watts ~ + 1 dB

3db is a doubling of pressure, 6db is theoretically twice the loudness as already stated (twice the power, twice the cone area).

10db = double loudness, this that bullshit is completely useless and a generalization since you can't accurately measure it with todays current technology....

We all have different hearing people, as well as different interpretations on what we perceive is true

Just leave it at that...

No, not thread. It has been proven EXPERIMENTALLY that 10db is the PERCIEVED doubling in loudness. If you don't agree with science, then you fail.

Its not a concrete answer because we all have different hearing...Do the test for yourself and see what you find...

well I realize it says this but I believe maybe at lower freq you can tell more of a difference vs higher freq. I really think it is freq dependent. cause you can't tell me 160 only sounds 4 times louder then 140
