10 dB = Twice as loud

something to do with logarithms, i forget tho
that i would understand...there is some sort of mathematical equation to it, but what gets me second guessing is what if person a has better hearing than person b, wouldn't that mean 2x loud for person a and person b would be different?

yes, so i guess twice as loud can be defined scientifically by using a mathematical equation. Or just some ppl perceive it to be "twice" as loud. So u can't technically hear twice as loud i don't think. U can, perhaps, perceive it as that tho

Again, can we say something is twice as yellow? We could argue math all day long, it has twice the yellow pigemtns therefore it MUST be twice as yellow. But in the end, it all comes down to... hold that color up front of several people, and all you'll get is a bunch of varying opinions.

Define things in math, such as Brian has done here for you guys. Trying to take it beyond that, arguing what twice as loud even means, is just an exercise in futility.

Just as someone with better (or worse) vision would see 'twice as yellow' differently. Yes, you get it. Nice job. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif Trying to go beyond math, to human descriptions like 'twice as loud' just doesn't work, no matter how hard some of these guys want it to.

This makes complete sense. Real world situations vary differently than theories and applied mathematics. The degree of variation is quite significant as well. Hopefully others see this as well rather than going against the grain.
