1 ohm stable amp not holding 1 ohm load

My friend has a Memphis 1000d that is 1 ohm stable that is not actually holding a 1 ohm load. When we hook it up at 1 ohm the amp will turn on and then shut down. He has sent the amp to memphis twice and both times they said there was nothing wrong with the amp. Have any ideas?

what is he pushing maybe the connections arent secure, does the amp play at all or does it come on then shut off instantly

he has tried hooking it up to his system (four 10s) and mine (two dual 4 ohm L5s).

The connections should be fine because we unhooked my amp and plugged it t right into the memphis and it didn't work. If the connections were bad my amp shouldn't work either.

It doesn't play at all just turns on, and after about 2 seconds shuts off.

hmmm your sure both setups are wired to 1 ohm ? thats the only thing i could see

that sounds weird mandoes this happen with the gain all the way down

if he wired them wrong then he would end up with higher than

1ohm. So he would be less likely to have an issue.

is it getting the proper voltage to supply the power draws? sometimes amps will shut off if the voltage input is too low. check your power and grounds with a dmm.

I'm always running at least 13.5 volts with my car on according to my cap. Somtimes it gets up into the 14s.

I really wish I could get this amp to work because he is wanting to trade me the memphis amp for my audiobahn.

disconnect the cap and throw it away. or at least disconnect the cap and see if that changes anything

So try disconnecting the capacitor? And connecting diretly to the battery?

Why would that make a difference?

you never kno. sometimes car audio is weird like that. the slightest things will make something work, but when you add another piece it won't.

alright, i will see if I can get a hold of him and borrow the amp and see if that works. Any other suggestions while i'm at it?

sounds like a very possible problem, not sure on anything else

find a single dual 2 ohm woofer and wire it down to 1 ohm and hook it up to the amp. Put your gains down though so you dont blow the sub. Ive seen this happen before, i think on my bro's memphis amp also and when i hooked up my dual 2 ohm shp it started working perfect again and i never had a problem since
