1 ohm Power?

My xtant 403a is rated at 200 Watts at 2 ohms for the mono sub channel. My Kicker L5 is a dual 2 ohm voice coil wired at 1 ohm. How much power is going to my sub?

Isn't it suppose to double at half the resistance? I just can't imagine that amp pushing 400 watts though. I don't think it's capable right? A 200 watt amp wouldn't push 400 could it? Can someone explain the math for me? I took physics a long time ago and I'm too lazy to do the research.

Well from what I know, since your sub is able to do 1 or 4 ohms, you need to get an amp thats 1 ohm stable. The lower the impedence the higher the power.

Well my sub has been wired at 1 ohm and I've been playing pretty loud for maybe 6 months now without any problem. The amp is hot, but not running hotter than normal. The over current light and the over heating light do not come on. Everything sounds fine. I figure if there was a problem I would know by now. No where in the manual does it say the amp is 1 ohm stable, but no where does it say not to run anything at 1 ohm. That's why I'm wondering what kind of power it is putting out. But to answer your question... Yeah I guess so.

(OT) I tried that method out, I hope it's accurate. My Power Acoustik OV2 1200 is doing 574.605 max watts per channel, and some 406.25 RMS watts. 33.9 AC Volts per channel, 2 ohm load.

Seriously, sungwei, try out that method, if it's right, you could be in for a nice surprise about how much power your amp does.

Alright! I'm having a severe brainfart and cannot, I repeat, CANNOT do the math.

I want to know the max and rms of my amp.

Highest AC voltage was 51.2v.

Lowest was 41v.

That's 2621.44 watts at 1 ohm.

1310.72 watts at 2 ohm

655.36 watts at 4 ohm

327.68 watts at 8 ohm

In theory.

That's odd, the only time I actually hit that high was giving my system hell. Usually I'm only sending 60 odd watts to my 15"s.
