1 Ohm or 2 Ohm

So I'm going to buy a FiQ 12" sub (just one) when i get the $ but i dont know if i should get the 1 ohm or the 2 ohm configuration. I have no idea what the difference is...

Oh ya I dont know what amp to use either... anyone got any suggestions? The sub takes 1000 W RMS so i'd want around 1500 wouldnt i? thanks

get the dual-2, because it's alot easier and cheaper to get an amp that puts out that kind of power at one ohm than it is to get one that does it at 2 ohms. Get an Orion 1200D or similar. Seeing as you're not very experienced with car audio, I don't think you should try to push it too much.

Wait and find your amplifier first. That way you are not limiting your amplifier choices by the coil configuration of the subwoofer.

The main difference to concern yourself with between the dual 1ohm and dual 2ohm version is what the final impedance presented to the amplifier will be.

With a single dual 1ohm subwoofer, your wiring options are .5ohm and 2ohm (not many amplifiers will handle .5ohm, so you are pretty much limited to a final impedance of 2ohm with this driver).

With the dual 2ohm subwoofer, your wiring options are 1ohm and 4ohm.

As you can see, purchasing an amplifier first allows you to purchase any amplifier that will output the power you want into either a 1ohm, 2ohm or 4ohm impedance.....and then you can choose whichever coil option suits the amplifier.
