my girlfriend wants to get a system in her car. But she doesnt want to stick alot of money in it. But i have a 05 xxx layin around. If i was to put it in a sealed box how much power should i throw at it?

get a ascendant audio assassin 8"

around 350 rms

sealed 0.4-0.6 cu ft

you got good sq, good output, and punchy bass

all for about $200-$300 (sub, amp, mdf, glue, carpet)

and yes you are wrong, sealed enclosures need more power because they are less efficient than say ported box. also sq is subjective...you can make a ported setup just as punchy and have great sq. ported = louder than sealed

ported downside: more space, less tolerance to measurement mistakes, and more work in general

very good, each one has an rms of 350 but people send them 600 rms daily without problems. They have great sq and can get loud in the right enclosure. One of the best budget subs.
