Hey guys, I'm looking for an amp that can push 1000-1200 watts to 2 3ohm SVC woofers. I have a 13tw5 and am looking at adding another one, wiring in parallel to a mono amp.

I believe wiring in these in parallel will result in a 1.5ohm load, correct?

The true impedance of the woofer is just under 2.8ohm, does that mean I want an amp stable at 1 ohm, or is 1.5ohms still safe?

I know the JL 1000.1 is an option, but I was hoping I could find something in the 1100-12000 watt range.

Does anyone have any suggestions for alternatives to the JL? 1100-1200watts, stable at 1.5ohms (assuming it is safe)

Thanks fellas

Edit:

I searched around woofers etc

US Amps MD-1D - US Amps 1 Ch MD Series Amplifier (1200@1ohm) (guessing about 1050@1.5)

JL Audio 1000/1v2 - JL Audio 1000 Watt Mono Amplifier (1000@1.5ohm)

Hifonics BXi1208D - Hifonics 1200W 1-Channel Amplifier (1200@1ohm) (guessing about 1050@1.5)

Hifonics TXi1508D- Titan Series 1500 Watt Mono Amplifier (1500@1ohm) (guessing about 1200@1.5)

Phoenix Gold Xenon X1200.1 will do 1200WRMS @ 4,2,1 ohms. (Will most likely have to buy used...) An Incriminator Audio IA20.1 may project you into the 13-1400WRMS range.

anything good quality that's around 1500@1 should have no problem doing ~1200 @ 1.5. however, the HF's are generally accepted to be a little over-rated. The 1208 might not do 1k at 1.5. The 1508 -- maybe. I'd look at the 1608 if you like the HF's.

The audioque AQ1200D will get it done for $250. The board is nearly identical to the HF 1608.

The actual impedance is something more than 3 ohms and varies with frequency and enclosure. What you measured is the DC resistance which is only part of the impedance. The sub acts more like a 4 ohm driver than a 3 ohm one so don't get so hung up on the impedance number. Look for an amp that will do 1500ish at 1 ohm and you'll be good. You'll not hear the difference in a hundred or two watts at that power level. Something like the Sundown SAZ-1500D should work quite well.

I've got 2 13TW5's, and I'm using a JL G-MAX amp to run them, and it's doing just fine.. I have been trying to find the impedence curve (and the BL figure) for the 13TW5's for ages, but no one seems to know about them yet....

The A1800 will also run them fine too, but I have noticed that (during testing) the amp will limit the power to 1200WRMS. The only time I reckon the amp will see 1.5 ohms is during frequency bursts around and below the fs ( eg: burping under 40 hz), so as long as your not doing lower freq test tones (spl) it won't be too much hassle for the amp if it is only designed down to 2 ohms...

You can get the impedance curve using the Q value and Fs of the driver. That is what they describe by definition. I would assume that the BL curve is pretty symmetrical (most of the good JL drivers are excellent in that regard) and not flattened (like the W7).

cool, checking out the other options now...

any other suggestions? bang for buck? the smaller the better, my Fosgate is gigantic

Arc audio ks 1000.1 at audiophileliquidator.com for $388.70 plus shipping, shipping is kind of high but it still beats woofersetc.com's price of $550. 1000 watts rms, stable to one ohmn,s/n ratio of 112 db's. Quality amplifier.
