1/0 Welding Wire Vs 1/0 Alumnium Wire

Shouldn't listen to guys who drive Caddys with walls in them. Yeah I'm jealous.
I have no idea what that means. A limo with a partition??? I barely know what a spinner is, but I'm pretty sure you do. I have a theory as to what DOA stands for though....

i'm obviously not an electrician //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
and my amp probably only does 200wrms (if that) //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
No need to state the obvious.

I'm actually not from Joliet, but I know how to use a shift key.
why capitalized joliet? its a shittown. also if you don't stay there then why put it? stay in plainfield or shorewood?

are you sure you are on the right site? also I know you don't know what D.O.A stands for.

Sound theory: Dubiously Overinflated Arrogance. I'm quite sure you'll have to find a dictionary to look up those words. Wait, without knowing the alphabet, that'd take you a long time. Just google, that'll probably work for those who don't own a dictionary or have never seen one. I'm reasonably certain you don't own a dictionary. BTW, I'm from the right coast, Chicago is a shit town. I'm far from impressed.

many battery post and lugs are rated for 75C even though 1/0is with the 90c ratinng is rated for 225 free air,if your lugs aren't.so you would have to use the 75c rating of 190.. in amplificotion when your impedance falls effiencv falls .. i always go by contious ratings, because you CAN pull more current the rms,even with music..

f i would use copper only... alum is known to expand alot more than copper ,evently causing bad connections...

for a 2000d 1/0 is fine,but 2500 2/0 min..for a 5kw 2 2/0s...most of the 2500s will acept 2/0...

Mac, Mac, Mac...

First of all -- Voltage drop is the KEY in a car. We're starting at 14v if we're lucky.

2nd - Look at the current demand of an amplifier...A $400 sub amp might be perfectly capable of 2000w RMS on a test bench playing a 60hz sine wave at 1% THD, but that's not what music demands.

That 2000w amp that might draw 200A on full volume tones is only going to need 50-75 on full volume music.

1/0 Copper is MORE than enough to power an amp capable of drawing 300A on peaks.

"so many car fires..." -- Really? Where?

Last I knew power wires were fused.

Home amp power supplies are a weak comparison because the power supply freq is fixed at 60 hz and it takes a much larger transformer. I would imagine some of the more powerful home amps start out with an AC-DC converter then use a switching PS a lot like a car amp. Car amp SMPS's are dc pulsed at 20k-50khz.
ia reactive load is different from a resesitive load, your going to get lower efficency.. ..

Being that you had to butt into a me and him conversation I'll school your ***. He has what is called a wall in his car. A lot of people on this CAR AUDIO site have them. Yes I know what a spinner is. I also know a lot more shit that you assume I don't. You don't have to come on here correcting people's words and trying to act like Big Brain Brett. Just be yourself. Obviously "Yourself" is a jagoff so carry on.

he tries to call everyone out on everything //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

he must be a master electrician. because he sure knows his car audio //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

He never replied to my post about not knowing what two smaller pcs of wire crossed over to and some other obvious electrical question that anyone with a small amount of electrical knowledge should know.

welding cable FTW,

search on ebay "welding cable" and you'll see all the deals you can get. There's excelene 0 gauge welding cable which is really good stuff for decent pricing. ie 200'' of welding wire just went for $270. Last time I checked it was insane to get 0 gauge for under $2 a foot

You know why old mobile homes (trailers) would always burn down and were considered death traps? Aluminum wire was what was starting the fires.

Go with the copper, it's a better conductor, won't act as one giant fuse and won't melt and overheat causing your shit to go up in flames.

Wow, that is very high! That equates to $16.20 per foot.

On second thought, you probably meant to say 200' of wire was $270.

' = foot

" = inch
