08' Silverado: Shallow 12"s or Regular 10"s?

I have a new Silverado and the space behind the rear seats is tiny. It is a lot smaller than the last model even.

I have found a few places that have boxes designed for 12"s, but the only 12"s that will work because of mounting depth and/or recommended air volume are the shallow mount Pioneer and Rockford Fosgate Models that run from about $90-120 if you look hard for a good deal.

I was wondering if those were good options or would I just be better off getting a box with 10"s that can fit more subs like Infinity Kappas or another type of regular depth sub. The air space is still tight, but I would have a few more options

You also have the Kicker CVT... If the BMs were any were near coming out I would tell you to wait on them, but they probably won't be in production for awhile.

I would find a 10 that works well in small air space and rock that. No sense in trying to put a woofer in to small of an enclosure....

I'd love the Kicker CVT and it fits depth wise, but it is recommended to have 1.0-4.6 cu. ft of air. My enclosure will likely have between .55 and .7

I might just do that. The lack of air space is still a problem with 10"s, but not as big of one.

a blowthrough would be pretty awesome

I could just put a box on the seats, but that would be a pretty big waste of about five grand for the extended cab truck. the space is just so cramped under that seat.

mb quart makes a shallow mount woofer that is very nice. i is designed sumular to the ul1200 critical mass. the magnet is on the cone side & they are running them on sale right now.

You can get 2 -10's or 12's under the back seat easily, and mount the amps behind the seat. There is barely enough room for amps, let alone subwoofers. Here are some pics of my Silverado work truck, JL 1000/1 and 300/2, SVR battery behind the seat. 2 Kappa Perfect 12's under the seat.

That is a nice setup!

Is that a crew cab or extended cab and what year? It looks like you have more room under your seats than I have. The new models barely have room for anything. The Kappa Perfects won't fit in any of the enclosures I have looked at.

Stereo Integrity has a shallow sub out right now. I've heard good things about it.
