06mazda3 door pods

you could just paint those fosgate grills?
i was thinking to just paint the gun metal and the fosgate symbol after i ground down the metal so it doesnt say fosgate and leave the bars crome

how did you like that aluminum tape for marking up a place to fiberglass?
the aluminum tape was awesome req showed me about it when him and i built some kicks in a civic, writing on it wasnt really to hard it was making sure it stayed once i sprayed the panel with pam so the glass would come off easier

I'd like to see a mockup of just how far out the pods will stick?
i have some pictures coming shortly, the only problem is that its raining and i dont have a garage so doing anything really sucks.... i hate the rain

as of right now im at a stand still, for both my batteries for my drill died... and im waiting for the second pod to finish drying before i can get the dremel to it...

i think im gonna have to wait till i get both of them sanded and figure out how im mounting them before i fill gaps and sand then wrap with vinyl

ok, so i have been really looking into how i am going to mount these to my doors... as i already said i didnt pay any attention to how i was going to do it... also not realizing that the big whole that i made in the middle of the base is a little bigger than i need it to be for mounting the wood onto the pod...

the idea that i have now is that im going to use the oval pieces to mount to the door than the round ones to mount to the pod that way i i will have to remove the pods in order to take off my door panels, that will also help to pull the pods tight up against the panels and have less chances for rattling... using some single sided foam tape around the back of the base will also help in reducing any noise that may be created from the pod rattling against the panel

any other thoughts anyone may have please feel free

just finished sanding down the left pod... on the way to mount em... this weekend is looking a lot better for finishing this project

ok so after thinking to much about how i was going to mount these and consulting with req i finally got an idea of how i should mount them so here we go

i cut out two pieces of sheet metal to mount to the back of the pod with notches in the so that the speaker does not hit the back of the pod

used the t screws and washers to mount them to the wood mounted to the panel and the anchor nuts to hold them in place... this was a pain in the a**

more pics momentarily

ok another hot day to get the rest of the hard stuff out of the way

with only a few questions to the viewers

im getting ready to tape off my doors put the pods back on and fill the gaps, and get the pods as smooth as possible before i wrap them in vinyl

i purchased some bondo-hair and plastic spreaders

i have only worked with bondo once and that was a long time ago so im a little out of the loop when it comes to working with it

does anybody have any suggestions on working with it and anything i should be careful of?

are there any little tricks that i might want to know about working with it?

any kind of info would be much appreciated.

thanks
