05 XXX 12'' SQ build help

Well being an original sub, I broke a tinsel lead the other day so im going to send it to fixmyspeaker and get it rebuilt.

My question is, If Im going for 100%sq on this next build, What mods should i have psi do to the sub to help my goal?

'05 is the old model prior to the US Amps buyout correct? If so, don't do anything other than fix the tinsel lead. That is one of the best sounding subs I have ever heard as it came from the builder.

Correct, 05 was the last year of the older style, and the only year to have the chrome motor.

You need that much sub bass for SQ ?? What will be your tuning frequiency ??

I only had 400w on mine. Enclosure was 2.0CF tuned to 29 hz. Big subs make the most sense from an SQ standpoint IMO because you can get enough output while not stressing the sub and introducing distortion.

That another qquestion i had.. What design, box-wise, would help with sq?

Im still thinkin if i should just get a whole new sub or not though.

The box I described above sounded absolutely fantastic. The transients were superb. Notes were all very distinct. Everything you want in an SQ sub setup. Did I mention that with only 400w it could shake the hell out of the car?

The chrome finish is exactly what I'm referring to. The top plate and back plate on my sub are chrome.

Don't let PSI touch it with a recone. Fix the lead(s) and use it. Amazing sounding woofah as it stands
