04L715 Box Build Question

After reading quite a bit on these forums it appears I may have a dilemma. I currently own a Kicker 15" L7 (dual 2 Ohm) that is in a 4 cu. ft. sealed enclosure firing up //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif in a 2003 Tiburon GT (Hatchback). Powering the sub is a Memphis PRD 1000.1.

I'm not too thrilled having this sub in a sealed enclosure, I think I may be better off with a ported enclosure? Problem is the limited amount of clearance in the hatch area (15" H). If I am to build a ported enclosure it appears the biggest I can go, with the space I have, is the 3 cu.ft. (after port and woofer displacement) design Kicker has listed in their tech manual.

http://www.kicker.com/05/tech-support/manuals/manuals/04SL7%20Tech%20Brief.pdf

But from what I have read here this is too small. Most seem to recommend 4-5 cu.ft.

Does anyone have any experience with the aforementioned enclosure? Would it be worth building this enclosure? Any ideas/opinions/experiences please share.

yes i had an older model tiburon and it was good with sub and port back or sub up and port back. you should check out the re audio box calculator, i think its a little more accurate than that one
