Hey guys, i hate to start another vs thread however im not going to ask which one is beetter blah blah blah. Just wondering (since i can not find older models on eclipses site) what the key differences are. 8454 i can have new for $299 on clearance since its last years model, however i really would like sirius. But if sirius is really the only major difference, since both units do e-iserve, then i will just take the 04, as $200 extra for sirius , (well $300, $100 for the tuner too) is not worth it. Let me know if anyone has 8454 specs vs this years second to top model.

the 05 verison has

gps map

movie screen

10band EQ

sirius control

new remote

color illumination

there a good review by 3.5 in the review section page two

the 8445 is not as deep as the 8454 in the xover/peq dept- the 8454 would be equivalent the the 8455 in respect to tuning capability and total control of an active set up.

Decision is up to you- you must prioritize things- Sirius is the main reason I upgraded from my 8443. You'll find all these to be great sounding decks-good luck

I just bought a 8454 for 289$ and will be getting it in shortly I think if you are a true audiophile you'd have more use of the 8454 down the road then a 8445 IMO

Ok i decided i want an 05 now, i can get a slightly used cd8445 for $350 or should i go brand new CD8455 for $500. Main thing is i am thinking with new i get the full 3yr warranty and theft warranty (from the dealer). What are your thoughts. i got Zapco amps with plenty of control so the bit extra bells and whistles on the CD8455 arent needed however the price of that new compared to the 8445 new makes it worth the difference, but the great price on the used 8445 is tempting. What would you do?

if money is no option- go for the longer warranty route/theft replacement...

money is always an factor , if it wasnt for anyone on these boards they wouildnt even be posting n here :p theyd goto a shop pay whatever to get whatever they want. anyway thanks for all the input i bought a CD8445 for $460 from the shop its on order. I made a mistake the 8455 was $560, so the extra $100 for the extra control wasnt needed in my case, as myt amps have plenty of extra control. Although it sure would be nice to have the 55's extra bells / whistles, but even the guy at the shop said its really not worth $100 extra.

congrats-please post a feedback & review on this unit when you get it, lots of people have interest in that particular unit

hey man i just got the cd5425 it actually looks alot better in my car than it does on the picture from the eclipse website. and believe me when i say the SQ from the sucker is great. compared to my old alpine. and im still on my stock speakers. i should be putting in my comps within the month. but yea let me know how the higher end models fair. want to see if ill be upgrading sometime soon =P

For the record, the 8454 doesn't have nearly the crossover section that the 8455 does in terms of flexibility (crossover points and slopes) if, that is, it has the same DSP section of its 2003 model 8-volt cousins. Does it?
The 2003 models didn't have 24db/octave slope capability for all channels nor did they have the capability to high-pass below 320hz on the front channels.
