'01 Alero - how to wire rear deck speakers?

I have a 2001 Alero for which I bought a pair of Sony Xplod XS-R6943 speakers because the factory rear speakers were blown. I put them in, but my friend and I couldn't figure out how in the world to wire the things in. After three hours, the best results we were able to get was a very faint sound from the factory head unit to the speakers, with a lot of hissing and popping. I'm not sure, but I think that the car has the premium sound, so as far as I understand there's an amp underneath the trunk somewhere.

On the left side, there are four wires coming to the speaker - they are purple, red, green, and royal blue with a white stripe. For the right side, the wires are yellow, turquoise, cream, and royal blue(no stripe).

The speakers came with wiring adaptors that I'm assuming are meant to go from the four wires on each side to the positive/negative input for the speakers, but I don't have the faintest idea of what wire goes where.

Thanks in advance for any advice you may be able to extend.

Did you pay attention to the wires before you cut them? The stock speaker is bi-amped, it has separate wires for the tweeter and woofer.

Left:

Tweeter +: Red

Tweeter -: Purple

Woofer +: Blue/White

Woofer -: Green

Right:

Tweeter +: White/Cream

Tweeter -: Yellow

Woofer +: Green

Woofer -: Blue

You'll pretty much have to decide if you want the highs or lows going through the new rear speakers, the premium amp has a built in crossover.
