Why doesn't car audio use XLR? It seems to me using a balanced signal would counteract a lot of the grounding issues inherent in a car environment and the signal tends to be 6 db higher. The only downside might be the size of the cables.

Only issue could be without using the ignition power, your battery could run down.

You can usually grab some nice DJ speakers and amps off craigslist for cheap. I'd look into that. Btw: those speakers you picked out are pretty decent, especially if you throw parties. You could always consider the consumer version and go cerwin vega however...

Maybe ~$500 for the amp its a nice amp. Vintage gear is nicer then most of the modern stuff. All that stuff is nice stuff Id hang onto it if i were you.
