If you have problems with DIY circuit boards, then just ditch them and do point to point wiring on the crossover parts. There is no SQ issues, it's all eye candy.

Many people undersize their soldering iron watts and run into those difficult soldering jobs. Bring out the big guns. Many times, extra heat using 'quick attacks' is better than weak heat where you try to fix a job and you get nowhere.

Are you using this type? If so, I used this before, it has a fast drying time over regular 'cheap' enamel spray can paint, it good paint. As noted already, perhaps applying an additional clear cloat of lacquer over enamel paint is causing issues *or* your single coats are way too thick.
