I don't see anything I could use in your WTT thread. The cone/coil/dustcap is left over from the round wire sub. (never powered) You would have to remove/replace the dustcap to align it. See this thread...

OP never asked for opinions on what he should and shouldn't do based on optimal sound quality and or preferences of others. He simply asked if it could be done without hurting his HU.

I have 3 DD 9518's. That's enough cone area to equal slightly over four 15" subs and almost seven 12" subs. DD does recommend at least 5 cu. ft. per sub though. It's be in your budget range. I have them for sale on here.

I only have the Avic NEX8000 and don't know anything about Kenwood. However, the 8000 has amazing sound quality and functionality. The tuning abilities of it allows me all I could ask for.

You can wire them in series and you'll see a 5 ohm load. The only problem is that the speakers will not receive the same amount of power, I think it's about a 1.5:1 ratio with the 3ohm speaker receiving most of the power.
