Featured Personal Custom Installs

This, of course, is a Scion XB. It belonged to a Master Cheff in the Bay area.

1997 GMC Dually. Even the wheels were custom made for this truck. The paint job was $85k. The audio was $60k, if I remember right. I have pics of the entire build, but I'm only allowed to post 10 at a time.

Good luck. To get that sound, you will need to drop some serious cash. The only brand that might match a anything near the Mcintosh would be an Arc Audio Copper Series amp, in my opinion. As for speakers, there's a lot of really good one out. The ones, in that truck you're talking about, are AVI.

Ya no kidding, currently running a ground zero uranium 6sq with scanspeak 22w 8's
Scanspeak 11m mids
Xcelsus xxt30 twitters
But looking around for tweeter upgrade
Possibly the bliesma t25s

Those brands done excise around here, so I can't give my opinion on them. Well, except for Ground Zero. We have those around here.

Probably, the best sounding speakers I have heard are the JBL Arena X 36Be's. Harmon Kardon doesn't have a car audio line, so they are now slapping JBL on them. The Diamond Audio HXPro 3-ways are really good sounding also. Problem is, when driving, you can't hear the difference is a $3,000 set of speakers and a $500 set of speakers. The road noise interferes.

So far I'm pretty happy with my scanspeak drivers maybe just the tweeters could use some finess
The xxt30 are by no means bad
But I think time to swap those out
So far on my list are the
Bliesma t25s
Morel piccolo
Brax ml28

The only one I'm familiar with is the Morel Piccolo. It's a really good sounding tweeter. Have you heard the PPI ribbon tweeter? It's a lot cheaper, but it sounds pretty good.

I have found ribbon tweeters to sound more detailed and full. The frequency range would depend on the crossover, but a ribbon tweeter can play at a lower and higher range than a dome tweeter.

Was the lowered chevy from your San Diego days?
Reason I ask, the graphics, looks like work of the infamous Rob Taylor....
That scene brings back memories, the 90s truck club scene....

This was from the Bay Area. I worked in that area for about 4 years. I wish I would have taken more picture of my San Diego builds. The problem was, camera phones were not as useful back in the late 90's to early 2000's. So, most of the photos I have are from the Nor. Cal. Bay Area.

I'm currently installing a system in my daughters 2007 Mustang convertible.

Equipment:
  • JVC deck. Soon to be replaced with a newer unit.
  • PPI E.7 EQ
  • 2 - PPI PC1000.5 amps (one for the left side and one for the right side)
  • Sedona SD.65 components in the doors. The 6.5 will replace the factory 8" sub, but act as the mid-range They will be bridged off the front channel.
  • Alpine 6x8's in the rear and factory front door location. I don't remember the model number, but they will run off the rear channel.
I'll post pictures when I'm done. I messed up my back, and I don't have a shop to work out of, so it's taking quite longer than anticipated.

I've always wanted to do a left and right amp set up for proper seperation but for some reason always end up with a 6 channel for front stage
And a 2 channel for rear fill 😒

I have done it quite a few times. It allows me to bridge the channels to get more power and it's a "cool" factor. Just make sure to use an RCA distribution box that is also a line driver. The biggest reason I got these amps was due to their price. They were on sale for $125 each.
