I’m working on upgrading my 2024 Silverado crew cab (non-Bose) on a tight budget — gotta keep “the wife” happy.
Here’s what I’ve got so far:
Here’s where I’m running into a question:
I’ve got two Rockford Fosgate P2D4 12” subs. They can be wired for either 1Ω or 4Ω, but the Focal FPX sub channel is rated for 420 W @ 4Ω or 720 W @ 2Ω.
I’m on a real budget and only have about $200 to spend.
What would you all do?
Thanks in advance
Here’s what I’ve got so far:
- I’m keeping the stock head unit.
- The head unit will feed a LC2i, which will then go into a PRV DSP2.8.
- The DSP will feed a Focal FPX 5.1200 amp.
- The Focal will power JBL GTO939 6×9s in the front doors and JBL GTO609C 6.5s in the rear.

- Wired at 4Ω, I’m not sure the amp will push them enough to really enjoy the bass.
- Wired at 1Ω, the amp won’t support it at all.
- Wire them at 4Ω and see how it sounds.
- Tie in one voice coil per sub to present a 2Ω load and see how that works and sounds.
- Buy different subs that can be wired to 2Ω.
- Or get a separate amp just for the subs.
