CarAudio.com Elite
Almost 2 weeks ago I received the 15" RD Audio Elite SPL thanks to Steve at Rd Audio and Low-hz.com for this opportunity. At first looks I was really impressed with the subwoofer and packaging. No worries there. This is the 5th largest subwoofer in the RD Audio lineup of 8 surpassed by the Alpha, Heavyweight, and Super heavyweight.
Compared to a DD 3515.
I started out with 2.5 cu. ft. box after displacement and 2 4" external aeroports tuned to about 60 hz. Powering this setup was 1 PA 3000db at 1 ohm.
On the TL with a little tweaking I was able to get a 145.5 out of this setup. Mind you this is MECA style at the head.
Next setup was 3.9 cubes after displacement and 3 4" external aeroports tuned to about 50hz. With the same amount of power.
With this same box I added another amp to strap 2 PA 3000's at 1 ohm.
I am very impressed with this subwoofer and its price. I was kind of skeptical at first knowing the voice coil was only 2.5" instead of the typical 3" vc on many spl subs. From the 2 weeks that I listened to the sub (daily and Comp) the sub only got hot once, and that was after about 6 burps full tilt from both amps. I competed at Carl Casper this weekend. On Friday I came in 1st in S2 and also won the Phat 15 award (loudest singe 15) with a 148.9. On Sunday I came in first in S2 with a 148.7.
Once again thanks to RD Audio and Low-hz.com for giving me the opportunity to test this amazing sub.
