Subwoofer only works when remote bass control knob is connected to the amp.

So I’m fairly new to car audio, and I couldn’t find a similar thread.

So I installed an amp and head unit in my car. After hooking everything up I noticed the amp had power going to it (light was on) but got no audio out of the sub. I plugged in the knob wire and got audio right away. When I went to plug in the actual knob to the wire, I lost audio again. So I only get audio from the sub when the remote wire is plugged in (without the knob connected to the wire). What could be my issue here?

What could be my issue here?

The wire itself does not connect one wire to the other, so I will assume the wire port may have broken solder joints. As for the knob cutting off audio, the volume may have been down or it is damaged as well.

Could be the connection, what type of amp ?

I had to go-to Amazon and get a new kit for the bass knob connection, cheaper then ordering another bass knob.

The cables or the wires used may be too small for the amplifier or radio.
