Featured 2010 ford ranger, which door speakers???

So now that my tacoma system is done, kind of learned alot....
Son is gettiing a used standard cab ranger & starting to put some thoughts into a system....
Just want it loud, full, clean....
Not looking to dsp this one,
One again, so many brands & series speakers im unfamilar with, give the ability to get more for less on some brands.
Going to do some sort of sub behind the seat, 2 10's...
But I want this discussion to be about the door speakers.
Assuming going coaxial 2ways as main would be dumb?
I have polk momo 2way components in my 00 expeditions & it cranks / loud!
So in a ranger if you guys suggest components, 2 ways should be fine?
You guys mention cat & nix alot but no idea what series...

Some budget build shops around me rave about how loud the Alpine R's get & not super costly...
Not looking for anything crazy expensive like going overboard on my truck, but dont want this to be a slouche either...
Assuming CT sounds Meso component set is garbage?????
Would imagine im not going to get any love here in regards to CT, but want honesty & direction more than anything...
Not looking for a total budget speaker, I want it to sound good but also be able to really crank it...
He's never really heard an SPL system....

Think the door utilize a 6x8 stock speaker.
so can do 6.5", 7.0", 6x9", etc....

What's the cliff notes version of how to make sense of all the different series of cdt speakers?
Which ones should I be looking at....
Assuming the hd series is where I should be looking...
The factory speakers are 6x8, but that leaves multiple options using a die grinder / sawzall....
Ill get more out of a component set of cdt 6x9 & separate tweeter vs a cdt coaxial 6x9?

I'd look at the HD series and go with components personally
 
I've got a lot of experience with CDT and the NVX lines. If you're looking for a specific size and have a budget let me know. I've got a set of the HD-M6 drivers sitting on the shelf too. I've written a white paper on the Steven's SA-1 and the CDT ES1200is tweeters. I've used several of the mids, midbass and most of their tweeters and some of the 6x9's. As for the NVX, have used quite a few of their drivers too with the exception of their new high ep SPL subs.
 
The stevens SA-1 tweeters are an exceptional value too. Unmatched chambered silk dome tweeters for $99.00 a pair. low fs of 640hz, 150 watt RMS, VERY good tweeters. I prefer them over the CDT's if you can make them fit. CDT's ES-1200is is a bit more treble forward and the off axis response is slightly better but the Steven's driver has better imaging/staging and a smoother top end. and again, 150 watts RMS!

Deaf Bonce Sylvester's if they fit. If they don't then go with Infinity Reference or Polk Audio two ways. Just my 2 cents. I've ran all of them. Mounting depth might be your issue. I've also owned a 94' Ranger.

I'd add that Deaf Bonce parent company (Alphard Group) is a Russian Federation Company, personally, I prefer not to support Russian companies. The better option for any pro-style drivers that actually sound good while being very efficient would be Steven's Audio.

Their midbass are superior to any of the Def Bonce which are essentially rebadged guitar cabinet midrange drivers, not midbass drivers, They have an fs of 110 hz, and a recommended crossover point of around 125 hz and an RMS rating of 150 watts . The Steven's are reasonable @ $88 each and they will actually play from 90 hz up (the DB start at around 125 hz) and the Steven's drivers have a thermal limit of 300 watts RMS, twice that of the DB drivers.

At the end of the day, for pro-style with sound quality (and gobs of volume) in mind, Steven's audio, hands down.

Available in 2 or 4 ohm variants.

Sound quality is a personal preference. It's just like asking what's the best type of food. If you love your Momo's, then I would suggest going that direction. CT is just as good as the next China brand who's trying to make a name for itself. It's not bad for the price. For pricing, check out SonicElectonix.com. They have a lot of deals on equipment that nobody else will have. They have JBL components for less than $100 that rock pretty hard.

You are correct about your speaker size. They are a 5x7/6x8. Oversize 6-1/2 speakers will not fit. You will have to use a spacer.
 
Like the idea of the CDT 6.7 over the 6.5 even though little more drama mounting....
6.7's much cheaper than 6.5 right now due to sale till end of month...
Not sure if there may be some minor speaker to factory grill in the door panel overlap, assuming that wont be a huge deal to just leave as is if I do encounter that....

Side note, I wasnt set on polk momos, was just comparing what my ear thinks it hears comparing the polls to my focal k2's...
Turns out Polk momo is a thing of the past & no longer produced from my search...

Remember, the bigger the speaker the harder it is to play higher frequencies. A 6.5" has really good mid-bass, but it starts to struggle with female vocals. This is why many SQ systems will have 3-way components. The 6.5 and 6.7 will not have that much of a difference in sound. Especially when you have a sub pounding in the background.
