My husband has a Pioneer aftermarket head unit installed in his truck. It’s older still has the removable face plate. For his birthday I bought him an upgraded pioneer. Was told that since he already has an aftermarket radio installed and has the module thing for the steering wheel controls and it was pioneer to pioneer it would be a simple unplug, swap, plug and go. Well that all went easy auntie he tried to listen. It has power to it shows on the screen it’s playing but no sound. Watched some videos, tried the “fixes” and no luck still no sound. Any advice? Attached photo of old radio installed and a internet photo of new radio. Thanks

Just to make sure, there are no amplifiers connected? Nothing connected through the RCA plugs?

On the old picture it looks like there might be a usb cable plugged into the back of it, probably for a phone. On the new one, I would not have a phone connected until you know it's working. Try to get the sound going from the radio on a known station.

What did you do as far as the wiring harness goes? The one from the old head unit to the new one? Did you just pull the old head unit out with the harness attached to it, disconnect it from the vehicle's harness plug, and swap in the new stuff? Did you match up the wires on the old harness to the new one? (Did he install the old head unit, and remember having to swap around any pins)? They may have changed the way they were set: ie:
1,2,3,4
5,6,7,8 vs

1,3,5,7
2,4,6,8

Unhooked the old unit and it’s the same wiring harness connected it to the new one. It does have an amp. The old radio had rca plugs (not sure if that’s the correct name) the old radio had 2 red and 2 black. There was a harness from the new radio that had red and white attachments to it. The wiring harness’s are identical. I went through them a vet and over making sure there was not something different on to the other. There is a usb that plugs into it to connect the phone both the old and new one had it. I can attach photos of the back of each unit and wiring.

It also does have an amp that goes to it as well

I use Waze on my 1500 NEX. The one time I did have issues I had to delete weblink and redownload it. I have location to "while using" on weblink app.
