Subwoofer Advice

Hey guys, long time no see lol. Well I sold the Merc and went back to a Jeep, just couldn't take not having a Jeep. I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee I'm messing with now. What 2 subs could I run that would give me some serious bass but stay under 3k watts rms? I would like to do an up facing box with rear port to keep the sub faces away from my tools and damage while off-roading. I already have 00 gauge pure copper wire setup for the amp, will prob run a Tar 3k or JP 23 etc.. Thanks in advance, you guy are always clutch on recommendations.

Need to know how much Cu. Ft. of space you are willing to give up #1, and what the budget is for subs#2 and if you will be building the enclosure yourself#3. Heavy 8s or a pair of 10s or a heavy 10 or 12 if you have the space

Pair of 12" can be run in those easy enough. The newer ones have less space then the older ones do but it can be done. Pair of SSA Icon 12" with 1,250 watt RMS ratings and a 3Kor 3.5K would work nicely. Matter of face a guy on DIYMA is selling a set of 12" SSA Icons for 225 each plus shipping with very little use on them. Selling because of medical bills. If I had the money I would have bought them no problem. Those are stout subwoofers and sound really good on a 3-4K amplifier.

I can give up 3 cubic feet, do not care to spend $250=+- per sub, will build the box myself.

Thanks for the heads up, I'm a fan of SSA. I will try to find the ad. Found the ad but can't reply or PM him, I do not have a post count over there lol.

Look at the Gcon from SSA as well. I would take SSA over anything from AB. Those can be built with dual spiders iirc and they are known to take more then the 950 watts rms they claim. And come in a 10" version as well along with upgraded coils all that but they are 290 bucks. IF you can get those SSA Icons used on DIYMA for a good price I would go with those you won't be disappointed. Just not a fan of AB after my experience with their subwoofers.

I can't contact the guy on there or I would more than likely take them. Wish he would post them here.

Always been a fan of those as well, and I would have more room for tools. What would be an ideal box setup?
I would do 3 cuft @31 Htz. These are some very Nice enclosures to put together. You can call and tell them how you want to face Port and subs or place in detailed info when ordering. You can call them as you are placing the order to walk you through as well. I wouldnt do the Plexy portion keep it a solid enclosure. Thats me

Should be able to send him a message I would think. I just posted in there telling him there was someone here possibly interested in them hopefully he will see. I know he is going through a bunch of medical issues and selling because of medical bills so with recovery sometimes it can be a PITA trying to even get to a computer.

Open screw holes sound like a little muffler, loose box panels sound like a massager on a wooden table.

You can add a passive x-over between the HK harness and Logic sub. Just know that an inline passive will also affect the HK sub's frequency curve...
