Old school car casette deck

Hi. Just bought home cassette deck seek to play cassettes in Chevy avalanche 2003. I'm reviewing a new double din screen head unit boss bv745b (has aux in audio ) , ill use mainly for mp3 smartphone to Bluetooth but want cassette also. I see some old school used cassette decks for sale.

What are my connection options for the cassette deck ?

Can I get a cassette deck with audio out 3.5mm to go into aux in on screen ?

I am currently not planning on front or rear seperate amps, ill use the screen built in amp to drive speakers plus 1x pre.out to sub amp and sub.

The screen does have 3x pre amp out for front , rear , sub amps. . Did the old casette decks have line out and could I install the 3 amps to screen and have a A/B switch to flip from screen to have casette deck drive the amps?

Much appreciated.

Thanks. I found a video showing the xk8d feeding a cd/ radio head unit and a graphic eq unit.

When the cassette played the head unit lit up 'AUX' . So the xk8d is like a home casette deck ? just plays cassette, no built in amp.

The home deck uses "line out" rca, so does the xk8d have rca line out or 3.5mm audio jack out ? Or aux out and are these three essentially the same thing.

Does xk8d have volume control ie is it its own pre amp , with pre amp out to power amp , or does it have no volume control and the cd radio head unit is the pre amp and power amp.

Much appreciated

Thanks. So the xk8d is a pure cassette deck , no volume control , not a pre aml, not an amp. It's simply line out to HU which is both pre anp, volume and amp . Am I correct.

Do you recall what style cable went from xk8d to HU , was it rca both ends , 3.5mm audio both ends.

Again, much appreciated.

:) , well, I guess I have the disease of nostalga. I have a large vinyl collection at home, I recently bought a high end casette deck and about 50 cassettes. I have to say, I enjoy the tactile experience and reminder of my teen years so its the same thing, putting a cassette in the car - yup - fond memories. Yes, its crazy !

Fair enough.
I just saw some of my old cassette's in a box the other day. Bon Jovi Slippery when wet and a few other hair bands I listen to in my early teenage days

The Aux in on the back of the HU that are RCA's are a line in used for things like disk changers and any other source that you wanted to run into your system. If your running a stand alone cassette deck that doesn't have volume control on it then you should be able to use it it to connect the deck.
The aux in that is a headphone jack or phono plug that is normally on the front of the HU is used more for MP3 player or even phones before Bluetooth came around
I find the sound quality with the phono cable is lacking myself

I get the nostalgia stuff we have at my parents one of those old huge coffee table height or little bigger stereo systems with vinyl, 8 track and fm/am. Got it for 15 bucks had a blown subwoofers and replaced those with some 8 ohm standard stuff and man is that thing loud, clear and just overall so good to listen to on vinyl.

I remain unsure if old school car cassette decks had pre-out to drive an amp or line out to goto another preamp. ( except the Sony that I can't find for sale) . My guess is that most were self contained units with tape , pre , amp and outputs to speaker.

What do you think about a Line Out Converter .(LOC) ... reduce the speaker level to line out, then feed the new screen which by the way, has proper L and R rca line in.

will an LOC effect sound quality ?

Yeah, most decent ones had preamp outputs. I just pulled an old JVC Digifine out of my car that has 2 sets of gold plated 4v preouts. Why use a LOC when you could use preouts?

Ty. I wasn't sure what the old decks had for pre out , hence the loc concept but I now see many with pre out so that's good.
You said 2 sets preout. Is that 2 x rca or 4x rca ? . I have 2 x rca line in to my new head unit so not sure how to handle if deck has 4x pre out
