RTA Help

So, I have an Audio Control Dsp 6.1200 that I want to tune with an RTA. I have a question about this tuning and if its possible with my setup.

I currently have 4 super tweeters up front on channels 1/2, front door 8inch midbass on channels 3/4, and the rear doors have an 8inch and super tweeter in each door. These are on channels 5/6. I currently have it tuned a little from laptop without an RTA. I was going to put crossovers on the rear doors to cut the midbass and tweeters where needed.

My question is if I do this will I still be able to get a reliable RTA tune in or should I pass on putting the crossovers in and RTA it first? Thoughts?

It would make sense to me that you would put the crossovers in first. What all functions does the RTA control? Is it just time alignment and equalizing? Is it going to try to set the frequency range to be relatively flat?

Thats what I was thinking. I don't know. I have only used a laptop to mess with the DSP. I would figure an RTA would help it the most vs my ears and a laptop. I have a few people that are able to do it. I just wanted to get a general consensus from fellow sound people.

I mean I would do it all manually. What are you trying to achieve exactly? Time alignment can help just match the front to the rears where you can delay the fronts, but left/right doesn't work well for passengers. With EQ'ing, you'd EQ to what your ear likes, not to what's flat, you know what I mean? That's how I feel about it.

You're going to have your subs playing louder than your mids and highs, right? A higher DB level?

See I'm a guy who likes more bass and midbass than tweeter. I don't want it flat, not with the type of music I listen to. Just some thoughts, not saying don't do it or you're wrong or anything.

Yeah, I think I have been happy with my tuning so far. I am currently working on getting a box built. Hopefully designs from you and/or built by someone. I am an SQ person and love to hear everything that is supposed to be heard and clear. But I want those low lows when it times as well.

A proper box usually does all of that well. My musical type boxes generally are loud, because that's what a well designed box does. Just have been doing it so long, there's a lot of nuances that all add together to make a huge difference.
