How Do 8" Midrange speakers fit in car?

On Crutchfield, I see you can buy 8" subs as a mid-range. What options do you have for having these in your car? I have heard of making custom door panels to fit, but are there any other ways?

Kia Soul is another one. I have to do a system in one of those sometime next year for my adopted sister.

Last Mustang I almost bought was this year and it was a 2005 GT and had 8" in the doors from factory.
