I'm running two AB 6.5" midbass and two Pioneer pro tweeters on a Taramps DS800X4. While I'm driving if I turn it up past 21 on my Kenwood DDX771 the high midbass/tweets turn off. When I return the volume to 21 or less, then, they turn back on. If I'm parked, with the car off, I can turn up the deck to 35 and not lose the mids/tweets at all. Any thoughts? My battery voltage stays between 12.4-14.1 all the time. Also, the DS800X4 doesn't really get hot at all. I'm also running the amp through a Taramps 4-way electronic crossover.

Sounds like an exposed speaker wire grounding out.

But, wouldn't it be grounding out at all volumes while I'm driving? While driving, it's perfectly fine up to 21 on the HU, but it cuts off when I turn it up over 21.
its exactly what happened with me, i had a cut in the connection of one of my tweeters way back then, after a certain amount of volume, the current was high enough to transfer to the metal surfaces it was close to and cut off. It wasnt directly touching it, it was still a few millimeters away but it caused the issue.

Could the amp be heating up and shutting off (protect) at higher volumes? I charged the batteries overnight and it wasn't shutting off today. Maybe, I'll get some wire protecting sleeve. My wires are running between the carpet and sound deadener.

You can pull that amplifier and take to an Audio shop and see if they will test it. Most shops charge very little and some will not even charge...

Go 150 Watts speakers or equal to your amps. 150 watts and up is your amps. That's the good rule of thumb.

The best thing you can do is make a solid plan. This way you won't be spending money twice and having to keep going back in add or replace parts.
