pioneer 80prs vs pioneer p80rs

Hi Guys,

I just bought pioneer 80prs and before that i had pioneer p80rs. My question is why do i experience night and day difference between them. The sound quality of a head unit launched in 2006 is way better than a unit launched in 2012. Both are 5v head units. Both have the same 24 bit burr brown dac. And yes i have read the complete manual of 80prs and done everything i could in settings but still the p80rs sounds more warm and punchy than 80prs. The 80prs sounds like an AV reciever(in stereo mode ofcourse) whereas p80rs sounds like a very expensive tube amplifier. I really need some sort of detailed explanation. Am i comparing apples with oranges?

the 80 prs has a flatter frequency response graph than the 80 rs which is very colored and not flat at all. You just need to go active, set the time alignment, EQ and everything aka the whole purpose of the head unit.

if used to the fullest extent of the unit, your sound quality capabilities are much higher.
