I have an 05 mini with the "premium" harman/kardon system. "Premium" because it's garbage. I'm upgrading the system with new amps and new component speakers in the front. The stock rear speakers did bass really well for small 6 inch woofers and went down to 40 hertz. Even though they ran fullrange, I think they were designed primarily for bass. I was considering upgrading them to 6.5 inch subs but because of the weird size I think it's going to be a pain, so I'm thinking about keeping the rear woofers and putting a low pass filter on them at 80 hertz so I would be using them like subs. My only concern is the amp I wanted to use to drive them can output 125 watts rms per channel. Is this a bad idea? I'm not sure how much power the stock amplifier was giving them, but it seemed like a good amount because the wires were thick for factory wires. The speakers themselves are beefy too and seem like they can handle power: https://images.app.goo.gl/3rZVBXaB7jnTjrGZ6 Is it still too much of a risk? I know that more power is generally better, but I really don't want to melt the voicecoil or something, any thoughts?
