I think our society has gotten so vulnerable to being trolled that we do it to ourselves now. Every time a tragedy happens we're first all in agreement and it's a beautiful thing, and then it devolves into the people who react differently to it than us are the worse issue and we immediate start to divide again. We do it to ourselves and it's kinda pathetic whether it's the rioter's fault or the blue snowflakes or the red snowflakes.
Example in George's case: Everyone apart from morons (there goes 20% of the population) agreed that what the officer did was murder. People disagreed about what degree of murder it was, but at the very least we can agree that 2nd degree negligent homicide or reckless homicide apply except for the 10% of people who say nothing more than manslaughter. If 70% of the nation agrees on anything it's a miracle, but then riots happened.. and now we've got a firm divide, 40%/30 (plus the other 30%). There we have it, we can no longer talk about George Floyds murder without also mentioning that some people reacted too strongly or having an argument about whether the riots were justified.
Here's how trolls work, they say something inflammatory and then look for the person who reacts the most over the top to it and then turns the conversation into what that person said or did instead of what the troll said or did. They do this over and over again until they've got a good divide and then leave the chat. We do it to ourselves now and it's truly pathetic.
