6.5" components for $250-300 range

Quick question. Would it be better up front with a mid-bass/tweeter combo or a midrange/tweeter combo? I mean like a 6-1/2" midbass, not a big 8".
No, not really unless you do a 3 way. It also depends on the tweeters. Mid-bass drivers tend to break up in the 1-3khz range

Get a taramps ds800x4 or even 1200x4 if you want even more power but you won't be able to use all of it. Especially when it comes to the tweeters. I'd honestly recommend the ds800x4 just for the extra headroom. The pioneer amp and the taramps 400x4 are also great amps just less power and of course cheaper.

Honestly, you could bridge the ds1200x4 rear channels to the sub and run the fronts to the silverflutes and run the tweeters off the 22w rms EQ if you wanted to.

Just not familiar with that dsp, ideally you get 4 channels + 1 (or 2) channels that can be filtered. Not sure if you get 4ch of preout's + 4 channels of line level or not

So the 1200x4... Can I run the fronts at 4ohm and then the subs at 2ohm? Is something like that possible? Also, do you think the DSP's 22 watts per channel would be enough for tweeters? I really like the idea of a single amp.

I think A ds1200.4 with rear channels bridged on that sa12 might leave you underwhelmed.

The tweeters will want some power 65 watts from the ts400 will surely get the job done since you’re not really going to be challenged with keeping up with a monster substage. The ds800.4 doubles your power on hand for your speakers but not absolutely vital. The flutes will be fine on the power from the ts400. If you got the extra 70$ sure Why not...still a small footprint.

is a few potential inches saved on a five channel really going to make a difference?

If it actually does 22w per channel, yes. You can always mess around and try different options. The 1200x4 is obviously 3x the price so you could settle for the 800x4 and be just fine.

You can either wire the subs individually at 2 ohms per channel (they need to be d1 or d4 subs) or wire them in parallel/series to 4 ohm bridged and you'll get something like 700-800w (about 300-400w after rise).

You think 22w on tweeters won't match well? I had some cdt silk domes on a small alpine amp putting out something like 30-40w and it got pretty loud, it was also a class ab.

Ordered the 400x4 and the MD1800.1

I do have another question on tweeters placement for the Massive Audio CT2's. My car has 3" drivers mounted on the dash way up by the windshield. They fire straight up and bounce off windshield. Should I place the tweeters in the same location firing up off the windshield? Or use the little pods and have them mounted by the dash speaker location firing directly at the driver and passenger seats? I'd like to avoid A-pillars altogether unless the sound is extraordinarily better. Thanks all.

just try every location it has mounting hardware pods to fit anywhere.

Hi all. I received the Taramps DS440x4 and the thing only has 6 speaker outputs instead of 8 for a 4-channel amp??? What am I supposed to do with that?

I came across those too. Seen all the drivers out on the alibaba sight for sure. Wonder who is making them for PPI? Looked long and hard at those...

What are some of the louder, while still sounding good, 6.5" sets out there? Been looking at some of these higher powered Sky High Car Audio sets...
