Recently I just had 2 12” SA12 put in, running them in a dual ported box, they are paired with a pioneer amp GM-D9701 And JVC KW-V headunit. Basically my issue is for 2 12” sundowns, they are not hitting nearly as hard as they should, it also seems that some days they hit harder than other days, it’s a slight but noticeable difference in sound. I’m running them off of a 660cca battery, big 3 upgrade and a stock 100-120 amp alternator, running 4 guag wire, I’m not getting any lights dimming but rpms sometimes go real low on certain bass notes. My issue is, it sounds like the power of one sub playing but both are playing with no issues to either of them. I havnt played with the gain or any filters but it seems like the x-over is somehow changing by its self? Maybe bad rca cables? I’m lost as too what I should do !!

Check the voltage on your sub preout on the jvc hu. Make sure to Set your Sub Filter on the hu. Is your big 3 done with 1/0 or 4? 1/0 kit would be better for your amp. Don’t those new sa’s take 750 watts each? That’s a 1200 watt dyno’ed rms amp before box rise and efficiency. May need a bigger amp

That’s what I was thinking but because I’m new I was stupid and took advice from someone who probably had no idea what they were talking ab When they recommended me the amp, also I did the big 3 with 4 guage as a temporary because my car kept dying after I beat the subs for ab half hour, ever since than it’s been fine. I also am planning on adding second battery just to further proof in case I wanna add more. What would be a recommendation to do cause I don’t have too much money to drop on another amp rn sadly /:

That sub section should be good with what you listed with the exception of the cable sizes. What my anal brain tells me I would do:

1. Remove subs and inspect the wires - use 10awg if you can - double check how the coils are wired and make sure they are the way they need to be.

2. Upgrade that big 3 to 0awg OFC... expensive but worth it - Run a 0awg cable to the amp - Run a 0awg ground to a clean bare metal surface.

3. Head to a parts store and have them test your alternator output and test your battery - It's free but will give you piece of mind or alert you to an issue

4. Level settings - These are VERY important! - Find the MAX undistorted output of the head unit - Use a 40hz or 50hz sinewave to set your amp gain. A good crossover starting point is 80hz.

So I would make sure you have a big agm up front and not invest anymore money in batteries for now. Just run your engine when you run your system and stay away from engine off demos. Get all that 4 guage swapped to 0 guage....2/0 flexible welding wire is cheap.

If you’re considering buying an another battery ($150 at least) spend the 30-50 more and swap amp. An md1800 or better an md3000 would both be okay

Thanks

thanks, ordering new cables here soon when the paycheck comes in, will work on tuning it here soon, appreciate the feedback. Battery and alt testing fine

Additinally, no need to reference "max" anything as those specs are useless. Most of know how to look at specs for a given speaker, amp, HU, etc...

If they had an orange basket I would have to buy them.... Hmmmm Sell my 4 Xs and get 6 of those and do no-wall again with one more 4500.....

That’s the little single 6.5 inch enclosure. The Savard did just as well as the RDS. These subs do well in ported or 6th orders but not as well...

Look at the Alpine Type S subs.
