Subs cut out randomly

I've had my subs for 2 years now (2 12inch kicker comps with a boss audio r1100m amp) and I've never had an issue with them but the past couple of months they have been cutting out randomly and coming back randomly. My ground is good, positive wire and fuse is good, signal wire is good, connections all good and tight, subs tested good, no voltage drop. I don't know what else to check. The amp doesn't go into protection mode or turn off. The sound just stops but I can feel my subs still moving like as if the volume was extremely low. I even swapped amps and I was still having the same issue. I did disconnect one of my rca cables and when I would tap the tip of the rca on the connection they would start working for a short time. I'm out of ideas. Could it be bad rca cables?

Which one would that be for that amp? There is a sensitivity switch, low pass switch, bass boost switch, low pass frequency knob, volume knob (which I have it all the way down). And that's it

Should be bass boost off. Low pass around 80hz. Turn the bass gain all the way down. Turn up your HU until it starts to distort. And, then set your bass gain from there.

If it is only doing it at high volume, then yes, clipping protection is activated to save the speakers. But you said you had it 2 years and no problems till now. If it does it all the time, and you tried different amps, that leaves only the source.

I rewired my truck today. Turns out the positive and ground wire were barely connected. I don't know if that fixed my issue but they are definitely hitting harder then they were before so maybe it was just the fact that my chassis ground on my truck was barely connected to the battery

I turned my bass boost off and set everything else. They sound better especially after finding the main power issue with my truck. I was wondering if I should keep my boss 1100 watt monoblock amp or switch to my db drive platinum series pd300. Either of them can run my subs fine and I don't have any room for a bigger box so I wont be upgrading to anything bigger. Just not sure if the boss amp is an overall better amp or if the db drive amp is an overall better amp. Any suggestions?

Additinally, no need to reference "max" anything as those specs are useless. Most of know how to look at specs for a given speaker, amp, HU, etc...

That’s the little single 6.5 inch enclosure. The Savard did just as well as the RDS. These subs do well in ported or 6th orders but not as well...
