BoogerMan's 12k Crossfire build in a 1998 Toyota T100 SR5

You're getting close man! Happy to see someone taking their time even in the end stages though - that's where it seems like most people rush and shove it together
Thanks bud! It is taking forever but for a few guys with hardly any experience I’m definitely happy with how it’s turning out! Should turn some heads at shows //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Thanks man!
Don’t really have a specific one. Maybe a 156-158 in the kick if I were to guess. I’m in extreme class so I’ll get my *** kicked either way lol. I just want to demo all day so that’s what we built the box to do. I’m wiring up my rca bass knob to be long enough to go outside the driver side window so 2 people can get a demo at a time and I’ll just stand outside the truck //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Been a long time since I showed but we used to run a hook up for the radio outside the vehicle. Plug and play from outside the car. We didn't have digital files that wouldn't skip, we had CD's. Lol
Makes sense to have a gain knob and the ability to switch tracks from outside the vehicle.

Above 150 and CD's tended to not read real well.

I woulda guessed the goal being 160. I know going for those few extra DB's can be tough. Again, too long out of the game to be familiar with all the equipment your running. Seems you have the electrical and wattage to get it done.

Yeah a lot of the very loud guys or burp specific vehicles run the radio outside of the vehicle. I’ll do that if necessary but I don’t think the truck will be loud enough to warrant that.

Yep usb our Bluetooth for me. Especially because all of the good rebassed music is online so I won’t have to worry about CDs.

Getting a 160 with this build will be tough. If this equipment was used in a B pillar wall then it could be doable. But blow throughs in extended cabs are tough to get loud. Might be possible in a single cab. I know a guy with an extended cab Dodge Dakota that does a 161 with 6 sundown nite shade 12s but he also has 6 6k Sundown amps and a big bank of super caps. That’s why I’m thinking my setup will do a few db less than his lol.

A little more done today. Didn’t get a lot of pics but I’m happy with how the cab is coming along. And my door finally looks like a door again haha. Next weekend we are going to try to get some amps mounted and turn it on. Still have to wire everything up and that won’t be easy because of where everything is located and positioned.

Sorry for the slow update. It’s been a crazy month. A ton of different things going on. Had family come into town for a week. Got married to the love of my life. Found out we have a little kid on the way! and took a nice honeymoon to Maui for a week.

We also somehow managed to get the truck playing right before the wedding earlier this month and a big Audio show yesterday.

Most of the wood we used for the cab will be reinforced with bracing or double layered. Some stuff will have to be redone. This was sort of a test run and a lot turned out good but some things need to be changed up. I’ll start taking the cab apart next weekend and we are going to try and finish it by fall for a show in October.

Here are a few pics of the cab. Wiring is a mess and will get cleaned up. And don’t worry the center console is getting thrown out. I had a jigsaw and 20 minutes so this was the result haha.

First burp after about an hour of play time. I was very happy to say the least. We don’t have a port in, and may not actually need one. We have to do an impedance sweep to see where it’s at. Sounds awesome so far and has a great bandwidth. It plays down to 22hz and up to 50hz with good authority all the way through. It is a little quieter down low low but 28-40 is nasty. Above 40 gets you right in the throat and makes you get scratchy back haha.

Night shot at the show.

I only ran extreme, but will do more classes when it’s complete. Took 4th place and lost to b pillar walls so I was still happy. 2nd and 3rd only beat me by about 1 db so I’m right there. After the interior is 100% done and the port is dialed in, I’m hoping to be doing 158+. It did a 157.3 at 44hz clamping 4089 watts, so 12,267 watts total. I forgot to ask what I rose to but I’d guess to around 1.5-2ohm. Voltage is solid at least. At idle I drop to 13.3 full tilt and when revving to around 1500-2000 it stays at 14.2 or above.

My buddy has a vlog and got some good footage of the truck and the show. At 13 minutes is where the truck appears for a decent chunk of time. Phils Subfari Astro van near the beginning is always entertaining to watch too so have a look!

More to come this summer!

that looks ridiculous lol im impressed how loud it is for a no-wall setup with no tuning
Thanks man! We are a bit shocked as well at what’s its doing right out the gate. I’m excited to see final numbers once it’s finished and all dialed in. It hammers and even after demoing for an hour straight, the subs and amps barely get warm. It’s incredible! Still got a ton of work left but will try to get it all done over the summer.

Man that s*** is nasty bro congratulations on a job well done and I'm sure it's only going to get better as you wrap up the final stages of the build
Thanks bro! I hope so as well. It’s freaking nasty at 28hz-45hz. I’ll try to upload a video tomorrow of a new song I was listening to this morning. It’s wicked!

That is a really clean and sick build you have there. Can’t wait to see the final result after adjustments and running
Thanks! We came up with some ideas for finishing up the interior that I think will really pull everything together nicely.

Great build. Can't wait to see the finished product.
Thanks same here lol!

We ripped everything back out and started over in the cab. The first go around was a great trial. We learned a lot about what needed to be stiffer and what needed to be redone to make beauty panels a little easier on us. It’s getting there!

The base structure of the two side walls, rear wall, and floor is mostly done. A lot of areas are double layered and a few more braces are left to add. Everything is extremely stiff now! Shouldn’t have any flex issues anymore //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

New side wall sub-base. 1.5” thick everywhere. Glued and screwed. We wanted to go with less of an angle for the side walls so gravity isn’t pulling the top of the amps down as hard as the first go around. We just need to attach the top of the wall to the roof.

New side wall that the 4K will mount to. Then we will build a secondary structure surrounding the amp then the beauty panels will attach to the secondary structure.

Messed around with some steel rivnuts. These things are awesome and will be used in a lot of other areas. We bolted in a couple framing brackets to stiffen up the center of the rear wall. We will also be connecting the rear wall to the roof which should stop all of the flex.

Some pics of the floor that the 3rd 4K mounts too. We still need to build the area in front of the floor that will house the battery and some fuse blocks.

Here is how the beauty panels will lay out around the amp. The main beauty panel that covers the majority of the wall will be wrapped next black vinyl. Then the 2” lip around the amp will be a press fit panel in white flock (similar texture to suede) that will make the amps look flush mounted. Should really help make the black amps pop! I think it’s going to turn out really clean.

is there a second peak up at 90? or is that just background. can't tell if that's a sweep and your entire spl curve or not
I don’t think so lol. It must just be background because that was a burp I did. I barely messed with it while it was playing because I knew it was getting redone and I didn’t want to spend much time testing. I think I did one sweep before this then burped at this frequency at one show then it got torn apart. It will still be a little before we run a sweep to see the actual response curve. We want the interior mostly done before we test and mess with the port and get things finalized.

Well, looks like we will be starting over on the doors. Back in high school I fiberglassed my doors to fit 3 speakers. For this rebuild, I was able to salvage about 1/3 of a usable door panel. Essentially the part that houses the window controls, door handle, etc. Unfortunately, at the time we were ready to start these custom door panels, I could not find a pair of used panels anywhere. No junk yard, not online, no where. My specific model truck is not very popular to say the least lol. So with that, the majority of the door had to be made from scratch. It has been a bit of a nightmare but I’ve learned a ton from attempting this with my buddy. For some reason the other day I decided to look on eBay and I was able to find a pair! I just ordered them and they should be here in about a week. We will only have to make a pod that bolts to the door now for 1 or maybe 2 6.5s. Should go a million times quicker, will fit better, and look a little cleaner since it’s a factory panel. This will help ensure that the truck gets done by October

Some final pictures. I’ll keep this door for now just in case but after the new ones are done it will get tossed out.

Added 2 more layers of mat to the upper left corner

Used a weekend to install a little system in my wife’s car. 2 Wolfram Al-12s (300 rms) and a Wolfram W-600.1 amp. Does a 140 in a prefab sealed box lol. I’m pretty impressed with it. My buddy Colin started Wolfram and is producing some very good quality amps and subs. I’ll definitely be running his gear when I rebuild my Camry. Maybe just a little trunk 4th order with a single AU-12 (3000 rms) sub and a W-4500.1 amp.

Got some custom fitted seat covers made through GT Covers. Really good quality and much cheaper than getting my seats reupholstered. Good enough for a demo rig.

Finally picked up a swamp cooler as well. I can’t believe I’ve waited this long to buy one. It’s a smaller one because I still needed to fit 2 cars in the garage, but it works great! 3100 CFM and cooled my 20x20 garage down from 115 to 100 in just an hour. Big difference even just with the good air flow and circulation.

Also got a large 13x13 canopy for when I’m over at my buddies. I couldn’t believe how much of a difference this made when we were in the truck

Got started on the floor 4K beauty panel template. These templates will be cut out of a single piece of 1/2”. We just glued a bunch of scrap pieces together to make the templates.

The large gaps on each side of every amp will hold a press fit cover to hide all wire connections. The main beauty panel will be wrapped in black vinyl and these press fit covers will be white. Should look really clean when it is all finished.

Rear wall beauty panel template made. Still trying to figure out what we will do around the port area.

This rear wall beauty panel will also hold a 6.5 and super tweet in each corner.
