Going to build a bandpass box for my VW rabbit stationwagon.

Put where the backseat is and up to the B pillar.

That is what I had in mind.. The subwoofer will be pointing from passenger side to drivers side.

Port out on drivers side.

This is for SPL purposes, and will be using a DD Z18D1 powered by two 8500.1 strapped @ 0,5

Question is,could this design work and what size on the boxes could work?

I was thinkin about 3.5 cubic feet for the closed box and 10.5 for the ported.

Tuned as close as possible to 80Hz.

Ideas?

What are you trying to achieve spl wise?

That's not how the bandpass walls are built for spl. Not sure if you've ever seen one that actually put up 160db+?

I have a few friends with spl bandpass walls and they are pretty similar designs. The sealed chamber was like 1.5 cubes per 18 ( two in the bandpass) and the ported chamber was like 40 cu ft. And 1000sqin port

One is in an old full size van and does 168db @ 50hz. Two D.C. 18's and a couple Brazilian amps.

The car is built for Super Street 1-2 at the moment..

I will try to put up some more pics of the interior later..

I know it would probably be easier to go bigger on the car, I do have a chevy astro as well

but I want to see what can be done in the Rabbit.

If I would build a "standard" ported box, say around 11-11,5 cubes? Walled.

But for the bandpass box, a bigger ported box will go louder, but I have to see what kind of space there is in the car for a much bigger box.

Batteries and amps take up a lot of room.

I've never seen a 4 door rabbit before...only the 2 door versions
It a station wagon. I believe all models except the New Beetle, EOS and the CC are all sedans. Have you seen a Golf Harlequin? I know they also have this in station wagon format.

Can tell you, with a wall in the 4 door version it´s very tight behind the wheel.. Knees are pressed up against the dash and you sit in a 90 degree angle.

Not so comfortable but you can get loud.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Why would he compromise his seating when he has enough room to play around?

I’m going to stick with the 4th order bandpass for now and see if it can improve it. The bandpass actually plays 100 rebased songs good.
