Zero Credit

This many.
I finally got a nice paying stable job and I'm trying to the out of my mom's house but I have zero credit. I'm able to get her to cosign with me to get the place but I'm tired of not having any credit. I can't even get my own cell phone plan. What would you guys recommend? My mom said word for word, "You don't need credit".

She says that I should just live with her and I'm ready to get the f*** out of here.

I feel like I'm still in diapers. She walked in on me fapping the other day lol. I'm 21, help!

The first thing I'm going to do is find a place that is affordable and pay my bills on time. I heard that your bills should be no more than 1/3 your monthly NET income, correct?

After finding a place, should I just get a secured credit card with low interest rates? If so, what are some secured credit cards with low interest rates that you guys would recommend? More advice and tips on what to do would be great.

Should probably start small, and listen to mom. Live home for a while and get yourself a credit card with a small limit on it (which is the only type they'll give you at first) and build yourself some credit. Pay everything early, and keep on top of your bills and they'll start offering you a higher limit over time and your credit score will start to rise. I'm 21 but my credit is extremely good thanks to my mom's advice and guidance in regards to finances/money.

Also...after you've had that card for about 6 months....try applying to places like goody's and lowe's credit cards. buy one thing (cheap of course) and then pay it off the next month. I have a few store credit cards that help out a little. If you get rejected for one, just wait. Everytime a store runs your credit...it knocks it down a few points.

umm, i dont have the best credit, but to build credit you don't buy something and then pay it off ASAP. building credit takes time. buy something for a $100-$150 and pay a little over the minimum every month until it's paid off. paying something off in one month won't do shit.

DO NOT get a credit card

go to a personal loan place and get a starter loan most are 200-400

takes a few months to pay it back

much better than a credit card thats going to charge a bunch of other fees

MY .02, i work in the mortgage industry.

1. DONT GET CREDIT CARDS! Credit cards only boost your credit enough for you to whipe your *** with your credit statement.

2. The only way to get good credit is through getting an installment loan... Example - car loan mortgage - Bike loan - boat loan. something that holds as collateral.

3. Get a car. If your mom cares should would cosign for you. after 6-8 months you will have good enough credit to pretty much do what ever short of buying a house.
