Zapco Amps?

The 9.0 (for example) is rated at 2200 x 1 (2ohm or 4ohm/ 2 versions) but can do 3000 watts easily (daily) and is able to do short burst up to 5500 watts.
I've heard of people running the 2ohm version at 1.5ohms daily w/o any problems, but I wouldn't run the 4ohm version any lower.

If you get a 9.0...it will be your last amp.
exactly. the 9.0 is a beast. i know a guy using four of them in an install.

Zapco makes a great amplifier underrated power i heard 2 of their 2000 watt amps that put out about 1500 rms to 2 TDX 15's in a tahoe and it sounded awesome. Good clean power just cuz they look similar to JL amps is all that they have in common id take a zapco any day.

they dont look anything like JL amps, and none of zapcos 2000 watts amps put out 1500 watts.

Just trying to get a rise out of the JL nuthuggers...I hate it when a JL product becomes a standard of reference
JL is a standard because it is solid gear that is available virtually anywhere- so anyone can hear it, wheras other top end stuff (Dls, Zapco, etc.) is not really available everywhere. Zapco is awesome stuff, and I really like the new Digital Reference amps w/ the built in EQ's. I like the Zapco stuff as a great fully regulated amp, but am partial to a more loosely regulated amp like a Dls Ultimate for better dynamic headroom. (I know, shocking I prefer Dls.......)

the 10 band EQ per channel isnt half of what those amps have in them.

Oh, I know, those amps are sweet, and I would likely get one, except they don't offer one that fits my current needs, unless half of one of the 4 channels can be bridges to 2 ohms with half stereo at 4 ohms- I don't think they can do that though....

so you want a 4 channel that does

X amount of watts x2 at 4 ohms, and X amount of watts x1 at 2 ohms?

i love zapco amps. Haven't heard the new comp line but have dealt with the older studio and ref amps. had a friend who owned a shop, he sold id and zapco only. got to fool around with them alot up there. To bad he closed a while back //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Yup, that's what I want- that is what my Xtant does now (50w x 2 @ 4ohms and 250w x1 @2ohms all rms) and I would like to double those wattages and add some equalization, so I either need multiple amps (not a desireable solution- my car is really lacking in space for multiple amps and keeping my hatch) or a 4-channel that can run different loads (effectively a 3-channel) So, I think the Dls Ultimate A5 is likely the amp for me- though I really like the built in eq/dsp processing of the new Zapco digital amps.

Interesting....would it be safe to assume then that Arc, DLS, Audison amps are in the company of Zapco amps...these would all be catagorized as higher end.

My amps are decent for the vanilla setup I run now...in the future I'm going to upgrade to better amps. I don't want lower end gear if I'm doing it..it's getting done right from the start.

Yes, all of those amps you listed are high end like zapco, and then you can get to crazy stuff like Brax http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=page.display&page_id=14&mfg_account_ID=90&category_id=3&CFID=748966&CFTOKEN=2fb70b89ec066ca0-29A3FA82-1422-7C6E-50BF3A268D9514C4 if you really want to toss cash around. I am sure a Zapco expert or Arc expert will correct me if I am wrong, but I believe Robert Zeff (the big kahuna largely credited for making Zapco kick *** like it does) Founded Arc audio. Dls is just some really badass swedish gear- the Ultimate line of amps are fantastic, and even thier lower stuff is great.
