Your top 5 personal favorite amps and why

my 1992 pioneer gold, display edition for Shakespeareans audio my buddy got it for me he was manager, it was 6 way pushed 2 kicker comp 4x6 and a set of MB comps and to Mohawk 8 inch free air subs, bass could have been tighter but the rest of the system rocked, the Nakamichi's that replaced it were good but did not compare

1. Most of the old type US AMPS stuff. I have an employee own/ed built amp that is 1 of a kind

2. The old DAT D3/D5 series stuff

3. My friend's pre-DEI AutoTek amp. I thought it was fleamarket until he busts a 146 with ~700w

4. The newfangled JL/Apline/etc amps that run the same power 2-4 ohms

5. I haven't owned/extensively used anything besides US AMPS and DAT.

Oldschool Orion 2100...is that the one that was generally known as "The Beast"? If I'm recalling the correct model number then 'nuff said for those that know what unit I speak of.
Technically "The Beast" was the XTR2250. Same heatsink and boad just different components as the 2100. I have a 2100 and it is an awesome amp but there were just others I like more. I'm always looking for another 2100 though.

I would have to say:

Phoenix gold ms and mps series amps.

Adcom amps (stable to ridiculously low ohms)

Anything Zed Audio (Hifonics, Autotek, etc...)

Blade se series amps

And like a few people have said the hccas by orion.

#1. orion hcca 150r. seriously under-rated and oh so tunable. integrated crossovers without any chips, these amps were the ultimate of the A/D/S-Orion venture.

#2. Orion NT and XTR series dual monoblock amps. marblized purple and red heat sinks, damping factors over 1000, balanced inputs, and voted the best amps of all time more than once, it just doesn't get any better than this.

#3. US Amps VLX-400. 'nuff said.

#4. Rockford Fosgate Punch 200ix. This amp single handedly changed car audio for me back in the late 90's. indestructable, high powered, and that simple black heatsink design made this thing a force to contend with.

#5. MTX Black Gold Series Amps. These amps blew the SQ world wide open with thier release. Nothing even sounded remotely close to as good as these amps did.

kicker zx 2500.1 - runs under rated imp, 90% efficent, sexy, takes abuse at 12v all day long

memphis mojo 4kw - even though it is a current hog. im running mine off 1 yellow top, 220amp alty, and lots of wire and i can still maintain 12v and abort babies with it. (awaiting 2nd YT)

PPI Art Series - same as before listed, quality and sexy

MTX 1501d - simply because itll take a shit load of abuse before blowing. i kicked the shit out of mine and they kept playing. good buy for the money.

PA a3000db - cant beat it for the money

also these are amps ive used. there are other ones out there im sure id love more.... but i only commented from experience

my top 5 is

1 - ppi 21400( if i have a chance to get this amp i would in a heart beat)

2 - rockford fosgate 500m(god i miss that amp)

3- mtx rt2400x( very strong a/b amp..they **** up juice but its well worth it)

4 - old school mmats 1200d amp (the very few amps that went down to .33ohms daily)

5 - old school lanzar opti 50(ver nice cheater amp)

80

1. Orion XTR/NT 100 & 200 Dual Mono Blocks w/Balanced Inputs - Some of the Best of the Best Period!

2. Orion GSX-300 Triple 24Kt Gold Plated Hand Built by Senior Engineering Staff - Oh Yeah!

3. HiFonics Series VIII Isis & Uylsses Platinum Competition Amps - Stunning!

4. The Original Fosgate (Long Before Rockford) PR-2100 Type II 4 x 50W with special preamp/eq way ahead of its time.

5. The original Alpine 3002 Power Amp that worked with the 3000 Series Preamps, Equalizers, Time Delay Units. Along the same lines the a/d/s Power Plate 100.

Alpine MRV-1507

A very sexy looking amp. Has a lot of power, and lots of flexibility for SQ and SPL.

Phoenix Gold

Anything, really. My first amp was an Octane and the **** thing is still going. Been ran at the lowest impedance it coud take for months, survived loose in my trunk. Never clipped or shut down on me.

I like the different styles the amps have, and they're all built very well, and have quite a bit of features.

Soundstream Reference500

My first experience with "underrated" power. Bridged down at 1 ohm, amp was beating the hell out of two Soundstream SPL12s. Very solid and attractive design.

I haven't worked with many amps, in all honesty. Those three I have and love them. I technically have five, since I own three phoenix gold amps, R8.0:4, X1200.1, and ZX350.

I really like both of my amps right now!

The Kicker SX is just so useful with all the digital features. I constantly use the voltage meter on it, the EQ is super handy, crossover feature is great, and it tells me how long it's been played and how hot it runs. Plus it puts out a ton of power. I got it refurb and haven't had a single problem with it over a few hundred hours of playtime.

My Sundown 1500D is a phenomenal amp as well. It is a ****ing trooper, that is for sure. I have it wired to .5 and drive up to 10 hours a day delivering pizza, with the stereo always on, and it has never given out. The clipping protection is great too since I have triggered it a couple times accidentally, messing with the gains. Never had overheating problems either at .5 and it is getting hot here in Texas. People are always really impressed by such a small amp also when I tell them it does 1800 watts.
