If I understand correctly, iTunes must be used for upgrades and updates. If your phone is unlocked you won't get either.

I guess it just depends on your preference. I use exchange on my service and don't have to have a special plan. But I have to deal with windows mobile =/. Working on building a custom rom for my treo in hopes of making wm run a little better.

Within hours(sometimes minutes) of a new apple update, there is a new version of unlocking tool. Kinda like the movie industry trying to stop people from copying DVD's.

Don't need the enterprise plan on ATT to have your iphone work with exchange. Works fine on mine. Haven't read up on what you get for the extra $45/month. Mr. Opportunist, do you know the answer?

You are using exchange so that you get push email as well as contacts/calender sync ota with the iphone without the enterprise data plan? Or are you using mobileme?

Third party app integration has become fairly easy and straight forward now with all of the 3rd party tools there are out to enable you to create the package with a click of a button.
