not to thread jack but i didn't want to start a thread about this. i currently am in a "family" plan with att. they sell the phone for 200 w/ 2yr contract. if i attempt to get iphone for that price will i have to drop out of the fam plan and start a new 2yr plan? will it renew the entire fam plan? or will i have to pay full price just to upgrade teh phone?

Any upgrade with ATT you have to sign a new contract. Just buy the phone off ebay and throw your sim card in it like I did.

True to a point.

I wanted an upgrade and they no longer offered my plan. So I would have had to sign a new 2 year agreement. I decided not to and just bought the iphone off the forum.

They will first, start up a new two-year contract to replace your current one, it will be the same your paying now unless they dont have that plan anymore. They they just add the $30 iPhone data plan on your line and whatever text plan you want.

Only problem with the new iphone is I beleive you have to go to an apple store to activate. You more run into issues.

hm... i gonna talk it over with the plan issue. i think the plan may have recently been renewed as i received my phone not even 2 months ago. on top of that a new phone was purchased to replace an existing phone in the fam plan that was not of the same type. more of an upgraded phone.
