You dont need XMNav for basic Nav features...right?

So, I am installing my AVIC-Z1 today and was wondering if the only thing I would need XMNav for is for live traffic conditions...correct? Or will my Nav system not work at all without XM Nav? Sorry if this is a dumb question, but im a Navi rookie...

The Z1 is sweet, and the nav will work regardless of if you have the XM subscription. The only thing it will get you is the live traffic conditions (so they say, never used used it though).
