Trigger Man!
Got people on here telling people to kill themselves and people are worried about fake accounts. This place is the motheerfugking Twilight Zone.
1. Threads started in incorrect sectionsSo y'all are just mad that someone might have a fake account? I said y'all need to make a reasonable list.
Yet here you are.Got people on here telling people to kill themselves and people are worried about fake accounts. This place is the motheerfugking Twilight Zone.
What happened last night? No running buddy? Woke up without all the b s on here from you?And there you are, sure to follow.
Im on almost every day. However, Im one of the last active mods. Its impossible for me to do this myself. Can we get a moderator that actually gets on?
For moving threads to the correct sections, muting people, deleting spam, etc.
There have been asks for recommendations. Unfortunately most of the trolls on this forum cant handle it.@Administrator whats up with making some of us more active users mods?
You have to have pretty thick skin to be a forum mod and not give 2 shits about what the users think of the actions that you take. There was a big issue back in the day where a mod that begged for mod, ended up banning a bunch of people, scamming someone, and then banned the people that shed light on his shenanigans.Very well said! I'm sure in the past the people clamoring for Mod's wanted to be mods themselves. I'm not sure anyone here that has been asking for more mod's, are asking for this or expects it but the multiple accounts, fake upvoting and other toxic shit needs to go. None of the previous mods appear to be active unless Slo_Ride knows someone who he can directly reach out to? I've been a Mod before, not a fun job and people always second guessing your decisions. I'm just the new guy, but I also have a ridiculous amount of forum experience from other places. Just calling it like I see it and in this case, this place needs 1 or 2 active mods. They're basically forum Janitors and as long as you find someone who doesn't get punch drunk with power the forum will be much better for it.
Do you realize what your asking out of someone that volunteers their time? This isnt a full time job nor do we get paid. I have handed out plenty of vacations to the people that deserve it. If you want stuff stickied, moved, etc. reporting the post with a valid description is helpful.1. Threads started in incorrect sections
2. Audio threads derailed regularly by off topic drama
3. Verified and Unverified multiple accounts (Need IP for verification)
4. Vote manipulation and trolling from duplicate accounts (reinforcing drama and derailing more threads)
5. Drama, drama, drama and more drama
6. Lack of Newbie post requirements or post template directions
7. FAQ or updated FAQ for some sections. IE: Brand recommendations in HU/Amp/Speaker/Sub sections maybe based on Low/Mid/High budgets, how to properly integrate with factory head units, (good better best options) and maybe see if Jeff or others would be willing to go over true SQ build basics. (Put all your money in the front stage, DSP benefits, Coax vs Comp etc)
8. Ohms law, wiring basics, how to calculate Amperage load based on wattage, batteries vs HO Alts, there are a number of recurring threads that could be covered in just a few extra stickies. Most are lurkers and TBH the search function on this site is crap. I know how to thread search this site using Google but many do not.
8. Live mods who can step in when someone is getting out of line and provide warnings and vacations where necessary.
9. Someone to manage certain threads/people when things get toxic or threads are so far derailed they just need to be locked.
I'm probably missing stuff, others please feel free to add to it. Does that list meet your requirements @Slo_Ride?
Weird.Lets face it. There are no active mods. This place is being basically run by us.
I had no clue you were still here honestly. Lurking in the shadows I guess.Im on almost every day. However, Im one of the last active mods. Its impossible for me to
Hi Dragon, I'm with Pop, I had no idea you were here. This is the first I've seen of you but glad to see that there is at least one moderator! I agree it is impossible to do everything yourself which is why many here are recommending some help for you. I guess if the outlook is most don't believe the active members here could handle it then I guess we're stuck.Im on almost every day. However, Im one of the last active mods. Its impossible for me to do this myself.

I completely agree, hell if this was 4Chan I wouldn't even care but its not and to many threads have gotten toxic from a couple of members (one specifically) bringing their own BS and drama into every other thread on the site. It even happened to this thread for Christ's sake. I think most of the members are sick of the whining, bad faith posts and incorrectly posted OP's. One or two good faith mods to help around this place couldn't hurt, I think it would only help. It's really not hard to figure out what needs to be addressed and what doesn't. The community moderates itself, you sound like the type of people who want the federal government to restrict a tweet.
Don't post CP and porn, and don't make legitimate threats against someones life. Can't believe I even have to say this.
Oh he hath spoken!! You used to be more active on this forum than now. Perhaps that will sound more appropriate.Im on almost every day. However, Im one of the last active mods. Its impossible for me to do this myself.

Got out of the car audio game 2 vehicles ago and started a Masters degree. Not much free time to spare until school is done.Oh he hath spoken!! You used to be more active on this forum than now. Perhaps that will sound more appropriate.

That's definitely a list. You're talking about a full time job bro.1. Threads started in incorrect sections

For one person sure, you split that up across multiple mods/sections (each section should have its own one or two mods, then supermods for entire site who can overrule section mods) and it should be easy, problem is lack of mods and lack of trusting people with modship. That's definitely a list. You're talking about a full time job bro.
And I told y'all @whitedragon551 was on almost everyday and I agree with him on everything he said. Hell, I basically already told y'all the same thing.
There's not that many people here bro. This entire conversation is retarded. For one person sure, you split that up across multiple mods/sections (each section should have its own one or two mods, then supermods for entire site who can overrule section mods) and it should be easy, problem is lack of mods and lack of trusting people with modship.
@whitedragon551 is working on his Graduate degree, something tells me he doesn't have a whole load of time for this place. He even said he can't do it by himself and I wouldn't ask him to as it is a full-time job for one person.
I've mentioned before, plenty of other forums have multiple tiered mods and it spreads the load of work and makes it so that it doesn't require a lot from each section mod. Maybe Administrator could open Mod applications, then those who are interested could apply and Admin along with any other current mods could review the applications and choose someone based on their app and post history.
Admin should be able to set it up so the new mod receives a 30-90 day probationary period, if the person proves themselves then they become a permanent "section" mod. New section mod then needs to prove themselves for at least a year possibly longer depending on need before they're given "Super-Mod" powers.
Section mods can provide up to 7 day vacations (nothing permanent), can move OP's to appropriate sections and can lock threads only in the sections they're responsible for. Super-Mods can overrule section mods and undo section mod actions. Not sure why everyone is acting like this is rocket science, its really easy and pretty much any large forum runs this way.
IE: reddit, r1-forum, ls1tech, cumminsforum, and calguns just to name a few.
Just seems like this forum has a history with some power drunk mods in the past and that has made Admin or others a little gun shy to hand out mod privileges. While I understand this, from a "New Guy" it's also hurting the community as well. I appreciate the work @whitedragon551 and @Administrator put in, just hope they can find more good people to help out so it's not just on the two of them.
There are other reasons this place is dead and its not just because of FB or the exodus of 09. If FB really killed forums then SMD and DIY would be just as dead. I believe it has to do with a lack of moderation/FAQ/Stickies. We need some folks to help build out some permanent content for this place. There's not that many people here bro. SMD? lol...I tried that forum out for a bit and I will never go back after the mistreatment of Meade's Minions on there. There are other reasons this place is dead and its not just because of FB or the exodus of 09.
