yet another stupid idea... would this work...

Well, you either have a poorly designed box or a poorly designed sub. 15's can still have "punch"....given they are setup properly (and aren't just some cheap, crappily designed sub)

What sub are we talkin' about here? Box? Amp and settings? More info is needed here.

And you are sure you are actually missing "punch" from the sub, and that it's not midbass punch that you are missing (that many people mistakenly attribute to the sub)??

EDIT: Sorry, just realized that this sounded more like a hypothetical than a real world case. Hypothetically, it shouldn't need to be done because, given a proper install, 15's will be just as "punchy" or "quick" (or however you want to say it) as smaller subs. But, many times when people say there is lack of "punchyness", it's actually a lack of midbass that is the problem and nothing to do with the sub. So, long story short....it could help, but it would only help cover up a poor install/setup, which is the real problem.

Just make sure the setup/install/box is properly done, and you'll be fine with just the 15.

ive finally just got my 12" where i want it... when they

say install dependant... it sure is true... it has taken me

like 2 months of fighting with this sh1t to get here and

now im ready for something else...

well since im only running one sub anyways... it may as well

be a XXX instead of an SE... so long as that group buy thing

goes otherwise i might go with an IDMAX or a brahma...

either way... stupid newb versus question coming...

12" ported SE vs. 15" sealed XXX

SQ, SPL... which ones gonna win? how is the 15" gonna

sound different...

should be right around the same.
ported = 3db -sq

sealed = -3db +sq

15 = 3db

12 = -3db

SE = SQL

XXX = SQ

i think id go with the XXX if you have 1~2kw to power it.

ive got a viper right now but im trying to sell it to get a memphis 1000d

so no matter what ive got at least 1000 watts... im probably sending

the SE ~400 or so... for a while i was sending it ~600 but the SQ went

to crap and every bass note was the same... so i chilled it back down...

i could just build a different box and drop my other SE in... but i think

im kinda diggin just the one sub... seems like less to obsess about...

and i want an XBL^2 sub or something known for its SQL...

so the 15" sealed vs. 12" ported... hows that gonna play out?

how can i make sure the sealed 15" isnt too punchy...

the xxx has more xmax has well, correct? if it does, between increased cone area and xmax, that'll more then make up for a sealed enclosure vs a 12 in a vented one.

with what i've read about the xxx, u should be more then happy with it in the proper sealed box.

so do u finally outhit ur girlfriends car?
