Wouldn't a good set of comps do the job with midbass? I was thinking of going with Boston z6's or rainbow vanadium kickbass's, along with 2 12"xxx. Would it do any good to get a set of 8's to go with it all?I listen to a lot of metal, as well as rap, so more midbass is a must.

the xxx has more xmax has well, correct? if it does, between increased cone area and xmax, that'll more then make up for a sealed enclosure vs a 12 in a vented one.

with what i've read about the xxx, u should be more then happy with it in the proper sealed box.

my SE sh1ts all over my girlfriends car now!!! ive got my install straightened

out and now my single SE vented sounds fantastic and way better than

even both SE's sounded sealed... my box may be slightly too big because

some quick kick drums dont get so punchy if there is a overhanging low

bass note... they get overshadowed... but for all the hell ive gone through

with this system im glad to finally be happy with it...

now that my SE sounds good the girlfriend is looking to have me

put my other one in her car... silly girl... i dont wanna even touch

her setup... lest i risk another 2 months of hell trying to get it

straightened out for her...

figures that im getting rid of it now... but ive got the need for 2 subs

out of my head... i hope to hit that final sweet spot with a 15" SQL sub

in a proper enclosure...

i actually had to turn the knobs on my LOC down... they were all the

way up... so i scaled them back a little and played with the settings

on the amp and moved the box around the trunk with a little help from

a page that had an experiment with box placement... my box is nearly

all the way back in my trunk... like not up against the rear seat but

nearly against the bulkhead opening... weird but it works great...

and i pull down my rear seats because they are wicked thick leather...

the SE's are finally hitting like they were meant to...

i figure that once i get the XXX or similiar type sub i will HAVE to

upgrade my interiors... hopefully the RE group buy will happen

soon and ill just get the XXX and RE comps all together... but

i dont think ill be actually doing anything with my interior til the

winter is over...

i listen to a lot of metal too... but also delerium and front line assembly

and some techno stuff... not a lot of rap... but eminem and dre at least...

Hmmm so would you recommend 2 8" drivers to up the midbass, or should a good set of component speakers take care of that? I'll be getting 6.5' comps btw.

As stated...Properly designed subs, and properly built/tuned boxes don't need it. I'm telling you, i have an 18 XXX in 7 cubes NET @30hz and it's punchy enough....EXCELLENT SQ. peace

i would say go with another 15....u would get alot more "punch" with a second one
