It's not rude. It is a business decision. If people can't handle modern finance, perhaps they should pick less confrontational businesses like carrot picking.

Furthermore, I don't think they are going to go through too much trouble over $170 besides a few threatening phone calls. Perhaps he should ask the next caller if they would lend him the money.

I'I'm just shocked that someone in debt is going complain about being treated rudely, as if not paying someone the money you owe them isn't rude...

I would've been rude as well, and made them find the paperwork.

I just wouldn't let $170 take down my score like that.

what If i made a bargain with them..say...I pay what the credit limit was on the card which was $250. I pay that $250 all at once and settle it at that, no paying all the ****ed interest and stuff which would not be need to be paid if what the credit line was on the card is paid for, so therefore they, Capital One, would have their money back, none less and none more.

Actually, it will worsen his score.

I am sure capital one already charged it off. By initiating payment, it would re-open the credit and could poetentially hurt his score.

I have full open access to Lexis and Westlaw...someone please give me a cite to find a case where a person won punitive damages for being rude. (or for that matter, won a case that got them something other than nominal damages) Until then, stop whining about a problem you put on yourself.
